The field is being used a lot, and that's great!

2. The Town doesn't maintain it well, which is unfortunately typical. I've never understood why Greenburgh town management chooses not to meet routine maintenance standards for parks and roadways. There's certainly not a lack of staff. Maybe someone could check into how and why Yonkers' parks and roadways are so well maintained, and bring back some lessons for Greenburgh town management. (I grew up in Yonkers as a kid when parks and roadways were even worse than Greenburgh's, but they're doing something right nowadays; not sure what, but it would sure be worth investigating.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33594888.post-25704738325521117912007-08-17T10:01:00.000-04:002007-08-17T10:01:00.000-04:00Why should only the pool be subject to residency r...Why should only the pool be subject to residency restrictions? One speaker from the Village of Scarsdale, asked Greenburgh to increase its spending so that the indoor pool facility can be open on Sunday, so that he and his family in Scarsdale can take advantage of it.

If the need for Sunday hours is that there are too many people using the facility, how come it didn't occur to anyone that maybe people from Scarsdale shouldn't be using it and that maybe the town should instead be limiting use of the facility to the residents who reside in the area that pays property taxes to support it?

Also up for the chutzpah award was the woman from the Village of Hastings who also wants to use the pool. Obviously, if the pool is available for use by village residents, which it is, and village residents want the town to spend more money to keep it open longer, then why shouldn't village residents be required to pay their fair share of property taxes to pay for it?

Is this what Bernstein's lawsuits are about? Making sure parks and recreational facilities that are available for use by all town residents, are paid for by all town residents. I sure hope so. That sounds fair, especially now that the unincorporated area's being asking to spend more money to help alleviate the overcrowding caused by, among other things, use by village residents.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33594888.post-8847398426759688792007-08-16T00:53:00.000-04:002007-08-16T00:53:00.000-04:00What is the due date for the budget proposal? What is the due date for the budget proposal?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
