STATE GRANT TO STUDY POSSIBLE BENEFITS OF SHARING POLICE SERVICE WITH DOBBS FERRY
Greenburgh Police Chief John Kapica has been working with Dobbs Ferry officials. The village has approached the town and asked if the town would be interested in joining with the village to apply for state grant funds to explore the potential benefits of sharing police services. The initiative was taken by the village of Dobbs Ferry. The Dobbs Ferry Village Board will be voting on the resolution at their November 13th Board meeting. The Greenburgh Town Board will be voting on the resolution Wednesday night. We need to look for additional ways to cut costs, save taxpayers money and make government more efficient. I support this initiative.
good
ReplyDeleteGlad that our officials are coming up with good ideas after election day, not only before!
ReplyDeleteYou should try to consolidate all the departments in Greenburgh.
ReplyDeleteWe should do away with Police dept altogether and have the State Police take over, just like they did in the Town of Cortlant
ReplyDeleteWe would save alot of money$$$$$$$$$
Why don't we eliminate county government and save a whole layer.
ReplyDeletePaul- Congrats on your victory. Can you please look into dropping the Police Dept. as 4:38 said ?
ReplyDeleteAll we have to do is contract with the State Police to provide Police service. It's not like the Police are around when you need them anyway. They are always talking on their cell phones
Eliminating the police makes no sense. We had a rash of burglaries in Edgemont. Our police dept did a great job finding the burglars. If we rely on the state or county police we will have to rely on their limited resources. It would be a big mistake. PAUL FEINER
ReplyDeleteWho thinks that contracting with the state police will save money? I don't. What really needs to be done is to trim our overgrown police department and eliminate some of the gross perks. It isn't hard to do if one is determined.
ReplyDeletei could see greenburgh and ardsley, or greenburgh and elmsford, but greenburgh and dobbs ferry aren't particularly close to each other ... i wonder why the river villages don't combine some of their services
ReplyDeletepoor thinking paul - a rash is a temporary thing
ReplyDeleteyou dont keep an army around just in case you get a rash
this is not to say we need a wholesale elimination of the police dept but selective portions could be transferred
merge the recreation dept and community cenetr and cut out the waste!
ReplyDeletewhy is government even in this business? its time to look into outsourcing some of these luxuries. if you want it, you pay for it (and your taxes are lowered)
ReplyDeleteThe police dept. has too many men and women.
ReplyDeleteWe have so many but very few are seen on the streets.
This is not the time to play hide and seek.
Money is getting scarse but these salaries keep going up.
consolidation of all the police depts. is the way to go.
step one, though, is to eliminate that silly harbor patrol
ReplyDeletegood work mr. supervisor
ReplyDeleteThe state police cannot handle the highway to heaven{Sprain Parkway} and you want them to handle the town of Greenburgh.
ReplyDeleteConsolidation of town police is the only answer.
There are many services that the town and villages can share, and also services that several villages can share to some degree. These services might be hurt in a large setting, but we are not a large setting.
ReplyDeletePolice are one such service. Why not have one central dispatcher rather than seven? Computer services are another. Tax collection can be centralized. Why have the town collect county, school and town taxes and the villages collect their own taxes, when one cental facility can collect all taxes.
We are enetering a period of large property tax increases that are built in. Nobody can do away with the bloated pension and health care costs. But we can try to increase efficiency.
Consolidate all police depts.
ReplyDeleteWe have too many high ranking officers in each dept.
This will be a good way to start saving monies.
If we don't try we will never know
Why can't we run this department the same as New york .
Stop wasting money on training Police officers to be firefighters and let them go on patrol.
ReplyDeleteMaybe when Kevin gets into office he can guide the supervisor on where to cut in the police dept.
Kevin will be godsent.Let me explain why.
ReplyDeleteHe has worked in many departments here in Greenburgh, throughout the years.
If anyone could straighten out the police department it will be Kevin.
As far as the other departments he will do the same.
He is the person well suited to bring us back to the way it was
If consolidation is the way to go he will advise the supervisor.if not he will not waste more of our money .
