FAIRVIEW FIRE DISTRICT USES WESTHELP FUNDS FOR INNOVATIVE SAFE ESCAPE HOME

A home fire is reported in the United States every 75 seconds. Only 16% of the families have a home fire escape plan. The Fairview Fire district purchased, with the WESTHELP partnership funds, a safe escape home that will teach students about home fire safety. The home enables the fire district to simulate emergencies--hurricanes, tornadoes, smoke. Firefighters teach students and others about safety --what to do in the event of an emergency.
Yesterday, after the memorial day parade, I joined others and took a tour of the new safe escape home. I was impressed. This is a terrific service the Fairview Fire district provides. The WESTHELP partnership funds were put to good use.
I hope that the Town Board continues to provide the Fairview Fire district with WESTHELP funds, as previously agreed to. This home is available for use by other districts within unincorporated Greenburgh and the villages.

How much did this cost. They already had one of these. Was it really necessary to buy a new one? Sounds like a waste to me.

Nothing at all against fire safety or the Fairview Fire Department, but it sounds like someone said, "Come up with some justification for those unjustified funds quickly!" and that's what they came up with.

How many times does Fairview FD respond to westhelp in a year?
How many times do other fire depts from The Town or the villages respond there ? Fairview pays alot for their dept, why shouldn't the county help them with that little amount of money? Close the homeless shelter and put the property on the tax rolls! We wouldn't be having this discussion.

I thought there there was a home in place already.Do they need another one . Yes i do think that childred should learn fire safety, but most of this is taught in schools or at the fire houses. does Fairview need two. Hey Fairview chief come up with another idea to spend the money. Did Sheehan advise you as to which way to go to present this to the residents of Greenburgh.

schools do not teach fire safety, the fire departments do it during fire prevention week

If the fire dept. teaches fire safety in school for a week,I would think that would be enough. The fairview chief has to justify the monies he received,or his close friend Sheehan will get mad.
