The Greenburgh Town Board appointed Thomas Madden as Commissioner of Planning. Mr. Madden previously served as Deputy Commissioner. To save taxpayers money -- the town will be leaving the deputy position vacant.
Under NYS law the town can hire professional planning consultants and bill the applicant for the cost of the planning review.
Valerie Whitehead has been named as Acting Commissioner of the Theodore Young Community Center. The deputy commissioner slot will not be filled until a permanent commissioner is appointed. Among options: eliminate the deputy commissioner slot and replace with another program coordinator.

glad to see the town is cutting expenses.
Continue to save money!
make cuts in the police dept!
Keep cutting. Use my scissors!
Paul you had to hear complaints before you take action.
All the town departments should have been checked right along not wait for budget time.
You are too top heavy in many departments, but you will not listen to anyone giving you advice.
Well you are starting to make some moves, let's see what will be coming up next.
Some people have spoken the rest is up to you and the board.
Paul, you have always been fiscally conservative. You had a Board that spent like there was no tomorrow. Glad you have a good team. There won't be much waste.
Why cant we look at the PD? And for heavens sake, lets not even look at a new public safety building until we take a critical look at the PD, including number of POs in station at any time, and why so many (as opposed to POs on patroll)???
If the police were out on patrol more often, instead of staying inside headquarters or at the hospital with ems patients maybe there wouldn't be so many burglaries in Edgemont.
THIS IS NOT JUST AN EDGEMONT ISSUE.
Either we dont need so mnay, so much OT, or they should be on patrol, but not sitting in the office. Give me a break. I think being a police officer in the field is a tough job, but sitting in the office ISNT A 100K A YEAR JOB, WHICH IS WHAT MOST OF THEM ARE EARNING, PRE-OT
We need to replace some officers with civilians, including EMT, a meter maid for HPPD, etc.
The ticket writers who work in Hartsdale are not police officers.
People should get there facts straight!!! The two men who write parking tickets are working for the Hartsdale Public Parking District and NOT the Police Department.
