HALLOWEEN REPORT--THE MOST QUIET HALLOWEEN IN MEMORY

Every halloween, since I have been Town Supervisor, the Police Chief and I drive around the town - monitoring conditions. The town asks many police officers to work Halloween night- - trying to make sure that you and your property are safe.
Tonight the chief and I knocked on doors of residents who have had complaints in the past. We also drove around different sections of the town. I am very pleased to report that this was the most quiet Halloween night in memory. The police radio was, for the most part, quiet. We did not see lots of kids walking the streets and did not observe any mischief. During the time I was in the police car - there were no reports of any defacing of property. I was pleasantly surprised -- I had thought a warm Friday night (no school tomorrow) would have encouraged more kids to walk the streets.
I would like to thank Chief John Kapica and the entire police department for a job well done. The police presence on Halloween is making a difference.
PAUL FEINER

Worth every penny to keep the community safe.

You must have not been in Hartsdale as the 1st time in the 18Halloween's here, we had to call the police. A large group of boys with a BB gun and eggs was menacing trick or treaters. Such a shame. Parents with little ones were very afraid!

The police response was great though!! Thanks Greenburgh Police!

Hartsdale? Where is Hartsdale?
Eh, he was probably in Edgemont.

The Chief and I usually go to neighborhoods that have experienced problems in years past--or locations people request us to go to. If Ms. Leavy e mails me (pfeiner@greenburghny.com) a location she feels that we should focus more attention on- I will put the address in my 2009 calendar and will stop by next year. PAUL FEINER

I have never understood what purpose is served by having the Chief of Police and the Town Supervisor riding around together on Halloween?

Will their combined presence be more daunting to mischief or even hardened criminals than a patrolman in a police car or, gasp, on foot. Will the Chief and the Supervisor be better able to detect criminal actions than their well-paid counterparts?

Would the Chief of Police take the bullet heading for the Supervisor if their patrol stumbled across a gunfight in progress?

Does having the Chief and the Supervisor out together function as a unit in lieu of officers who would be on patrol?

Does this mean the Chief and the Town Supervisor are saving residents money?

When the Supervisor writes that he and the Chief ride around "monitoring conditions" I am reminded of his annual goal scam. What is monitoring and why can't the Chief of Police do it by himself? If this was the most quiet night in memory, then next year there will be a lot fewer homes for knocking on doors. Darn it all. Next year you'll be needing those doors too ahead of the election.

Question of the day: How many members of the Town Board can fit in the police car with the Chief of Police -- and still have room for a captured naughty teenager?

And apparently the Chief and the whole Police department are being thanked for a job well done which means too that they had nothing to do because of their presence. See, we're not going to need that fund balance money for the courts after all. Let's haul the whole Police Department into Town Hall for certificates of appreciation at the next Town Board meeting.

Hal, you are so brillant. How has this Town managed all these years without you? You should really bring your show on the road, then you would not have to be such a big fish in a little pond.

I appreciate that the supervisor is starting to participate lately in his own blog.

Dear 4:54,

Clearly the Town has not been managed so well all these years.

Maybe what you meant to write was:

Blessed are they that run round in circles for they shall be known as big wheels.

But wouldn't that also apply to the Town Supervisor?

ACTING TDY COMMISSIONER WHITEHEAD LAUGHS AT AQUATICS DIRECTOR FIRING

I have been using the TDY pool for four years. But today was the last day I will ever enter through the doors of that Community Center. When I asked about what happened to Patricia Roper, in a vivid illustration of almost demonic proportions, Whitehead gleefully implied that she was no longer working at the Center. I was disgusted as to how giddy and cruel her mannerisms were at the point of my question. It was very clear that she took some type of perverted sick pleasure over someone’s loss of employment.

In the last two years Ms. Roper has been the Aquatics Director, I’ve seen a tremendous improvement in programs, staff courtesy, and equipment upgrades including a brand new electronic scoreboard, not to mention her determined advocacy of the FAST swim team. I don’t know what happened to cause Ms. Roper’s apparent termination but there was no reason for me as a Greenburgh resident to be subject to Whitehead’s attempt to denigrate and take joy from someone else’s pain. It seems hard to believe that with Whitehead’s attitude she’s employed at a community center. Her vindictive display is a poor example to our children.

Does Whitehead’s unprofessional behavior reflect the integrity, ethics, and motus operandi of you and our council members? Please answer this Paul.
OUTRAGED GREENBURGH TAXPAYER.

6:21 I agree with you,on how bad Whitehead is. but what you said would mean more, if you signed your name. unfortunetly I can't sign my name either.

Why can't people be nice? The town does a good job. Employees try hard. Services are good. Why do some people enjoy tearing other people down?

Hey Paul, since i see you have a bpath site meter on your blog, can you start filling in the urls of the repeat anonymous posters so we can confirm they are all the same 2 or 3 people? It's only fair since you have this information about everyone who posts here.

scary is juettner and sheehanigans on the town board for another term!

Anonymous said...

Isn’t it funny that when someone brings up a concern about the TDY Center, a blogger here responds by saying, “Close that place!” Mr. Feiner, is that you???

Anonymous said...

"Services are good."

Unfortunately this is not true, especially when compared with each one of our neighboring townships, cities and villages. Some Greenburgh services are wasteful, while many are not managed in a professional manner.

Dear 2:04
Have you compared unincorporated Greenburgh taxes with taxes in surrounding villages? Most are higher than Greenburgh's, and they don't have AF Veteran park & the pool usage!
We pay less than village residents pay and get more for our money.

11:33 you have got to be kidding.
Feiner loves the center that's why he keeps it going regardless of what the bloggers say.
He has never looked at their spending of taxpayers dollars since he became supervisor.
He is not a good manager.
If he had any managerial skills he would have seen that something has been going astray for many years.
But that's Feiner ,

Anon 5:13, we pay more than White Plains and Yonkers -- which is equally irrelevant. The question is how are we doing. Given that we still appear to have our art director, historian (OK, thats small) and energy czar on the payroll, my guess is not too well.

Anonymous said...

The energy czar is important. Assuming the town can cut energy costs --big savings for all of us.

you are right, in uninc. Greenburgh, we do pay slightly less property tax than surrounding communities (excepting white plains). but then again, excepting maybe mount vernon and yonkers, all of these communities have much more highly reputed school systems. the parochial/private school tuitions paid by a huge percentage of uninc. greenburgh families, more than eliminates any tax savings. it used to be that the tax savings in uninc. Greenburgh was great enough to somewhat compensate. those days have ended. so if you have kids, moving to greenburgh, is a very expensive proposition. consquently, i must emphasize, that tax increases in uninc. greenburgh, are felt much more intensely by the typical uninc Greenburgh family then in other communities where most kids are in the public schools.

The schools are separate from the Town. Cora Carey, Stephanie Bellino are the equivalent of the Town Council on the School Board. They make policy for the school district. They have to get elected. The Town Board has no influence re: schools.

Typical politico's spew.
"Most quiet" is poor grammar masquerading as intelligence. The best word for this condition is "quietest." But the, Mr. Feiner would relish the job of "Decider-in-Chief."
