I don't see a representative from Con Edison on your list.
They have installed new meters that are stealing homeowners big time.
Have any of you noticed how much your bills have escallated since a new meter was installed [[without your knowledge]].
Check back on your bills from the day the new meter was installed up to now.
You will find that there is a tremendous difference .
Paul the culprit for high electric bills is not the home owner it's Con Edison and would you believe they are not represented.
That's right check your bills from when they changed your meter and you will see how much over the top you have been paying.
It may not be all the new meters but please check this out.
Are the private contractors appearing at this forum on town property the appropriate people to give objective, unbiased advice? Where are NYPIRG or other non-profits who are involved in energy conservation?
How about having a representative from the Public Service Commission.
We need someone other than calling the number on our monthly bill to listen and to prove that we are being robbed.
Making calls to NYC is a waste of time.
We are lucky that we have to call a toll free number because the waiting time is crazy and when you reach someone guess what you are wrong and the company is always right.
I don't think the meters have anything to do with it. Con Ed had a huge rate increase from last year to this year.
Check out the taxes on those Con Ed bills = GRT (don't know what that is) & sales tax. Sales tax on energy bills? Delivery charges - we actually pay not only for the energy but for them to deliver that energy.
Look at your cable & phone bills as well - padded heavily with taxes, especially local franchise tax which guess what - goes to the Town of Greenburgh! Now if that's not double taxation, what is?
Sorry the meters have a lot to do
with the monies paid.
Even with the seven percent raise that was granted to this company the bills are still out of line.
Just take a moment to check your bills .
You may have to go back to the year that you had the old meter.
Yes it will take time but in the end you will see a big difference .
Check your bill has your BTU (Therms)rate increased ?
My usage has been the same for many years, but since I was given a new meter which is read from the street I have noticed my bill has triplicated.
With all their increases we should not be paying this much.
The company will not admit that there is something wrong with the meter .The answer that they give you is you want another reading it will cost twenty seven dollars.
is the meter.
The problem
Gee, I'm going to be busy Tuesday night but I'd be concerned about showing up for fear of being crushed were "all owners and renters" to show up.
Maybe renters should surrender their seat to home owners.
But don't renters want to learn how to reduce electricty and heating in their home?
Not really.
But can't they buy the new energy efficient light bulbs, shop for a less expensive supplier of electricity and try and use the the air conditioning less and at off peak periods and shut off technology that is always "on"?
Yes. And knowing that already they can also save gas by not
going to the meeting.
Oh, one more thing, will the last person leaving the building remember to shut off the lights.
Hal, Hal, Hal
Did you EVER think that some renters pay for electricity and WOULD be concerned?
Answer - NO as that does NOT suit YOUR cause....
Anonymous, Androgenous, Annoyance
I am a renter. I pay for electricity. Do you think in my listing of energy tips which renters can avail themselves of that I left any out?
I think it's a useful meeting for homeowners but the meeting room capacity at the Library is 188 less any tables etc. Since it is such a valuable meeting I'm sure it will be a full house and that the presence of renters will only deprive those who would benefit the most of the opportunity to attend.
I also heard that the TZ bridge is going to be demolished or sold. Want to buy a bridge?
Hal, Hal, Hal,
I learned long ago NOT to buy ANYTHING from a person SUCH as YOU. Looks like you will have to keep your bridge....
Paul, how about a "How To," on how to reduce profligate spending in your administration?
Just a assing thought.
How about turning off the lights at the library on a Sunday night. Just passed by and the lights are on.
It's too bad this is another uncontested race for Supervisor & 2 Town Board seats. Terms limits are something we need to consider. 20 years in office has allowed this group to amass a huge campaign fund that makes it impossible for the average Town citizen to compete with. Pat Weems was tossed out because Feiner challenged her petition. She should have challenged his. Most of Feiner's people either didn't know how to collect signatures or didn't care about following the law. I was asked to sign his petition (not in a million years!). As someone who has carried petitions over the years I can tell you that I was not asked any of the following mandatory questions: 1. Am I registered Democrat, 2. Do I live in the Town of Greenburgh?, and 3. Have I signed any other petitions for the same office? Most people probably have no clue what they are putting their to. I'll bet more than half of his signatures were invalid.
I have had the opposite experience with the new Con Edison meters. The kwh hours, therms used and the monthly charges all have decreased.
Well you were one of the lucky ones.
I had a defective one which ran me four hundred dollars extra each month.
I insisted that I wanted a new meter which turns out to register the same usage that I have had in previous years,
I guess you never heard of defective meters which are called fast moving which will send you to the poor house.
My next step is recoupping some of my money which I think will be a
lost cause.
Paul's Fire District consolidation committee has its first big decision to make tomorrow. Do they include a study of the Fire Protection Districts or don't they. My guess is that Feiner has already ordered Hochberg not to. Feiner does not want the taxpayers to know that the citizens of the Fire Protection Districts are funding the Villages!!! Yes, that's right, their tax dollars are being gobbled up by the Villages and NOT for their fire protection! State Law dictates that only up to 35% of the contract amount can be given over to the Village Fire Departments for Fire Protection. Remember those words "up to." That means that by LAW, a MINIMUM of 65 cents of every dollar that the citizens of the Fire Protection Districts pay out in taxes remains with the Villages!!!!! Shhhhhhhh! Feiner does not want that info out there for public consumption. Feiner is raping the Fire Protection Districts in order to fund the Villages!!!! Is this why several of the Fire Protection Districts are run at a defecit Paul???????
