Earlier this summer I received a call from an elderly woman in her 90s who has ALS. Her property was beginning to look like an eyesore –with overgrown grass. Neighbors were upset. I sent out an e mail seeking volunteers. Jake Schiappacasse, a 16 year old sophomore at Ardsley High School, answered the call to help. He volunteered his time mowing her lawn –and reducing the stress level of the elderly woman.
Jake is being honored by the Greenburgh Town Board as our “Student Hero of the Month”. He is a real inspiration. He is modest, and has a desire to help others. The Town Board is meeting at 7:30 PM
