RESPONSE FROM SENATOR COUSINS- LOGGING ON SPRAIN PARKWAY

In response to your e-mail to Paul Feiner's office on 7/28/09 and forwarded to Our albany office by U.S. Mail on 8/20/09. I was able to reach the Dept. of Transportation in Poughkeepsie. They have assured me that the clean up of the trees along the Sprain Brook Parkway will be completed within 4 to 6 weeks. They have stated that it is much easier and faster to do the cutting and piling at one time and then the removal and cleaning up all at once. If we can be of further assistance please contact us.

Paul were you not told by the transportation dept. that the way they are doing the cleanup is the best way.
Why not leave this dept. alone to do the necessary work that is needed to take care of dangerous trees.

You have reached a point that you cannot make any more decisions that are favorable to the public or your conterparts in government.

The answer from the senator is the same today as it was from the transportation dept .yesterday.
Stop making waves.

Greenburgh is mocked behind closed doors by NYS departments, as well as by utilities, because of Mr. Feiner's childish approaches.

Don't they know our supervisor has one of the best Twitter pages.

Isn't a permit required and to be posted at a Transfer site. Which this eye sore is.

Paul
Can you please explain what a Affirmative Action Officer is and does. I see you're going to appoint them at the next meeting and I don't know what this is.
Thank You

Greenburgh's most embarrassing eyesores are the median strips along Central Park Avenue. What makes it worse is that town management actively chooses to allow this ongoing neglect.

wall must go said...

what about that hideous wall in front of presser park

equally ugly

Honestly, what does it take to whack the weeds on the meridians? One or two days work?
Either Paul gets the county/state or whoever is responsible or he should demand that it be done by Greenburgh staff.

As for the wall, year after year goes by and we can't get it right. What an embarrassment that at the VERY LEAST the tiles weren't fixed in time for our 8th 9/11 anniversary. Those tiles have been off since the Winter.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

Yeah. Why are we hiring an Affirmative Action officer? Job duties usually include making sure there is equal opportunity employment or to mediate between disgruntled employees but it could mean something different to difference agencies.

Why are were hiring one and for what purpose?

Paul as you noted in an earlier post that Spooktown is comming back to Hartsdale Former Barnes / Nobel site and I noticed they started to paint that horrible orange paint again. My question to you is last year that paint was on the building months after Halloween and I thought they were going to remove it after October31st. Will it be removed this year or Not? It was removed the first year but not last year . This will be an eyesore.

I also agree that Central Avenue in Greenburgh looks horrible and should be maintained like Yonkers Does.

By the way while on the topic of Yonkers. Why are Greenburgh Garbage trucks all the way down by Nathans in Yonkers almost daily? This is a waste of fuel and is the town insured if there is an accident.

Paul Many ? s here hope you respond in a timely manner as you have on other ? s I have bought up.

They could be picking up their lunch.

Regula took away some garbage pickups in certain areas, well how much money has this saved.
I still see all the small dump trucks on the road plus a few more.
This was a way of punishment for the unincorporated areas because we knew a little too much of the goings on in this dept.

The garbage is hauled by the Greenburgh trucks to a transfer site in Yonkers near Home Depot, nothing wrong with stopping for food on their way back.

The median strips don't even need to look nice like Yonkers. Just do some basic, regularly scheduled weedwacking and sweeping.

If town management wants the state to do the work, there's a simple work request process. Understandably, this wouldn't be a ranked high in the realm of NYS roadway priorities, but at least it would be done by a stated date with a confirmation number and such. The town would have to resubmit the work order on a regular basis as needed, but it's just a few keystrokes.

Or, if town management wants to demonstrate ongoing care for the community (state road or not), town management could opt to handle this simple task on its own, just like Yonkers and Mount Pleasant, for example, do with its state and county roads. (Well, not as simple now due to the ongoing neglect, but if town management would choose to thoroughly sweep and weedwack just once, it would then be simple.)

By the way, while this neglected Edgemont stretch is a long and most disgusting welcome into our town, this is also a Hartsdale matter as the 100/100A intersection is in need of the same basic attention.

It just makes no sense that town management has made the choice to do nothing about this ongoing matter.

Paul how about picking up the phone and calling the owner of the old Franks Nursery on 100b. The weeds are taller than the trees

the islands on central avenue has been reported by town employees to management and they can't seem to get it together to either send a group of workers or to get the state on top of it.

Dear Feiner needs to update blogs email:

In addition to Nathan's, why are so many Greenburgh sanitation trucks parked at Stew Leonard's?

An even bigger question, since the Supervisor led the fight to keep the Sprain Road access road CLOSED at an estimated cost of $675,000, why do Town of Greenburgh vehicles even use this road at all? Has he any principles? What a silly question. Of course not

"most disgusting welcome into our town" ... which reminds me ... what happened with the town signs that the credit union at town hall was providing? where are those funds? we don't need fancy signage like the villages and yonkers; just some basic green 'town of greenburgh' signs like the state put up at the ardsley-greenburgh line on 9a

Our town politicians should hang their heads in shame. On the 8th anniversary of the Sept 11th attacks, our towns memorial is in shambles.

SHAME!

wall must go said...

the wall was nothing other than a publicity stunt
the added disgrace is fema money was used for this hideous wall

take it down now

and go to the county's memorial at kensico

What happened to the memorial at Vetran park?

In the spirit of reporting all the news and giving credit where credit is due, last week I did ask Mr. Feiner/DPW to remove some low hanging branches along Central Avenue (in front of Marshall's/Trader Joe's) that interfered with pedestrian use of the sidewalk.

Mr. Feiner responded quickly and the offending branches were cut and removed.

Well, there you have it. Our supervisor has fallen so low in the esteem of other state officials that even our own state senator will no longer respond directly to him. Then, to cover up the Senator's lack of respect, Feiner headlines this post "Response from Senator Cousins". Wake up people, she didn't respond, she fobbed it off on a low-level staffer. With no respect from the Senator, just how many state dollars do you think will be directed this way?
Speaking of State dollars - the reason the medians along Central Avenue look so bad is that the Town doesn't maintain them. Sure, Central Avenue is a state road, but several years ago, Mr. Feiner cut a deal with the State. For a fixed sum of money received from the State, the Town agreed to perform the necessary maintenance in perpetuity. In exchange for cash which enabled Feiner to fix a budget problem in 1 year, he accepted a permanent cost. Now he's reneged.
No wonder no one at the State level wants to deal with him. He's failed to honor a deal and keeps blaming everyone else for the situation.

The county or the state officials have had enough with this supervisor.
Check out the county roads in Greenburgh they are the worse in the county why because Feiner is the most hated man in Westchester history.
The more he complains the dirtier things get.
As one said not so long ago Feiner is full of hot air.

Hot air is to expensive. Cold air is more like it

With all the complaints about Feiner and how he runs the town, it is shameful that not one person is running against him. Unfortunately the Democratic party could not find it in their hearts to support Ms Weems in her effort to offer an alternative to King Feiner. Thus, we are left with a candidate running unopposed and we loose the opportunity to even have an honest debate of the issues. Greenburgh deserves better. It appears that we have crowned Feiner for life. What a sad day for this town with questionable management, cover-ups,out of controlled taxes and diminished services.

Mr. Carter (TDYCC) has been heard to say that there is a lot of grant money and assistance out there from the County, but as long as Paul Feiner is the Supervisor of Greenburgh, forget about it. His contacts and former associates have told him in no uncertain terms.

Too bad Greenburgh taxpayers.
