President and CEO
Well established Economic Development Corporation, located in the Hudson Valley area of New York, is seeking a President and CEO to lead the organization's regional effort. The candidate will be responsible for crafting and executing a regional economic development strategy covering seven counties primarily to market and advocate the region for economic growth. Strategic relationships with political and private sector contacts will be paramount in the strategic mission.
Reporting to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, the incumbent will be responsible for managing and advocating the interests of seven counties. The President and CEO will be responsible for the overall strategic planning, budget preparation, human resource management functions, and day-to-day operations of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the region's business and economic interests as a spokesperson locally and as an ambassador externally.
- Foster and maintain collaborative, cooperative relationships with stakeholders in the region including county economic development groups, NYS government agencies, and regional businesses.
- Direct the external marketing program including working with all interested parties in managing new corporate leads to the region.
- Keep up to date on regional statistics and demographics i.e. unemployment rates, movement of industry in or out of the region, downsizing and overall economic climate.
- Articulate status and progress of the region to journalists as needed.
- Provide tours and educate interested parties on the valley and/or sites.
The successful candidate should possess the following:
- Experience as a legislative and executive advocate, skilled in industry - government partnerships.
- Experience providing a broad range of business strategies to diverse corporate and government clients.
- Business savvy, competitive intelligence, forecasting, economic development and strategic alliance-building skills.
- Experience in formulating innovative strategies from concept through execution.
- Superior communication skills including stellar public speaking ability and the ability to conduct presentations before large and small gatherings alike.
- Adept at advocating strategic positions while interacting with elected public officials and business leaders.
- Proven experience and skills to lead an organization through strong project management, management of a staff, and the ability to prepare and follow strategic plans and budgets.
- Solid base of knowledge of the Hudson Valley region and its accompanying assets.
- Proven success at fundraising endeavors.
- Effective presentation writing skills.
- Commercial real estate experience a plus.
- Knowledge of regional political structure and elected office holders a plus.
The position pays a base compensation of up to $170K, an incentive bonus up to 20% of base, a company provided automobile including a matching 401K plan with full health benefits.
