Course Description: The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Course educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

When are you going to have a work session to get the $1.8 million that a municipality owes the Town? What about some action on the $300,000 plus that the Greenburgh Housing Authority owes the Town? In these tough economic times as the Town Board declared in budgeting the use of over $5 million in fund balances for 2009, why isn't the Town Board working to collect every penny that is due? If these amounts aren't collected, the rest of the taxpayers are going to have to make it up.
The candyman doesn't care.
Work sessions @ 9 AM when taxpayers are hard at work trying to make money to pay their taxes...now that's open government! The Supervisor has to pick his daughter up from school in the afternoon, on our tax dollars while he's being paid to work. Can every employee of the Town leave early to take care of their children? Once again, Mr. Feiner is above the rules!
This is why term limits are so important. Entering 20 years of has made this guy believe that he owns the Town and that he makes the rules and the hell with the rest of us. It's become his way or no way and everyone goes along with him. The Town Board members need to speak up and stop this guy in his tracks. He ran on the platform of believing there should be term limits. He accused Tony Veteran of being in office too long. Wow, what a surprise...he's doing the very same thing.
DON'T VOTE FOR HIM OR ANY TOWN BOARD MEMBER THIS ELECTION - SEND A MESSAGE. THEY ARE RUNNING UNOPPOSED - LET THIS BE THEIR SMALLEST TURN OUT EVER. MAYBE THEY'LL GET THE MESSAGE.
Paul's Fire District consolidation committee has its first big decision to make tomorrow. Do they include a study of the Fire Protection Districts or don't they. My guess is that Feiner has already ordered Hochberg not to. Feiner does not want the taxpayers to know that the citizens of the Fire Protection Districts are funding the Villages!!! Yes, that's right, their tax dollars are being gobbled up by the Villages and NOT for their fire protection! State Law dictates that only up to 35% of the contract amount can be given over to the Village Fire Departments for Fire Protection. Remember those words "up to." That means that by LAW, a MINIMUM of 65 cents of every dollar that the citizens of the Fire Protection Districts pay out in taxes remains with the Villages!!!!! Shhhhhhhh! Feiner does not want that info out there for public consumption. Feiner is raping the Fire Protection Districts in order to fund the Villages!!!! Is this why several of the Fire Protection Districts are run at a defecit Paul???????
I'm waiting to see if anyone on the Town Board believes in following the law. It's ironic that Feiner and Juettner are lawyers yet neither has any regard for the law. The TB made an appointment to the parking district board. The appointee did not legally qualify. When brought to Feiner's attention by Bob Bernstein, Mr. Feiner simply stated that if he didn't like it he could sue him. That's great. My town tax dollars are going to be used to defend this? The law is the law. The fact that he doesn't like the law doesn't mean he has the right to ignore it. This is a democracy. If he doesn't like the law he should take legal measures to change it. Until such time he should abide by the laws just like everyone else.
DON'T VOTE FOR FEINER, JUETTNER OR SHEEHAN IN NOVEMBER. THEY ARE RUNNING UNCONTESTED. SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE BY GIVING THEM THEIR SMALLEST NOD OF APPROVAL. MAYBE THEY'LL GET THE MESSAGE.
The Town has violated so many laws in so many areas that if the public really knew what has happened, they'd be sick. It's going to cost $4 million (before interest) to clean up the mess in Taxter Ridge due to failures by the Town DPW (Mr. Regula). The Town violated the law with respect to Fortress Bible and that will cost about $5 million (before interest).
There's more, but why ruin your day
The law that was referred to in Bob Bernstein's anonymous posts precludes spouses of property owners from serving on appointed boards. This law was designed to keep african americans from being appointed to government offices and is illegal.
No race card here, please. It had nothing to do with keeping African Americans from serving on the Board. It had to with protecting property owners of all races from the burden of having to repay debt should the district fail to meet it's obligation.
Greenburgh proudly has a high number African American property owners - all of whom are eligible and welcome to serve on the Board.
The debate is not whether the law is constitutional. If the Town feels it is there are legal means to challenge it.
The debate is whether or not elected officials are obligated to uphold the laws as written. If not, aren't all then entitled to follow those laws we like and ignore those we don't. This is a democracy. We are a civilized nation. Following the laws we enact is what makes us civilized.
If the Town feels the law is unconstitutional they should "legally" challenge it. Until such time they are obligated, legally obligated to uphold the laws as written. No elected official has the right to ignore the law. For nearly 60 years all commissioners of the district had to comply. We should be asking why now this one person doesn't have to?
The laws are meant to be followed by all citizens. Elected Officials are legally obligated to respect, obey and follow these laws.
The recent appointment was illegal and should be rescinded. The challenge or debate is not about race and not about the individual involved. It is about the law.
The Town Board voted on this appointment without the knowledge that the person was not qualified under the law. Whether Feiner knew that or not is suspect. Nonetheless, the Town Board should rescind the appointment and either reappoint the person currently in office or look for a candidate who qualifies under the law. Keep in mind as well that there actually was no vacancy on the board at the time the appointment was made. The law allows the Town Board to fill a vacant seat. How could they appoint someone when in fact there was no vacancy?
Paul Feiner likened this law to the laws of the "deep south" - don't fall for this. His method has always been to divide and conquer. He has been the most divisive supervisor we have ever had. Our community has never been so torn apart with Edgemont v. Hartsdale v. Fairview, etc. Now he has us ripping each other apart of the fire districts.
The Hartsdale Parking District is mandated by a State Law. If the Town Supervisor feels the law is unjust he should challenge it through the proper channels. He does not have the right to ignore it. The appointment he made to their board is simply illegal.
He's like a spoiled child who just can't take no for an answer. Unfortunately the other Clown Board members went along with him - they didn't bother to question what the requirements were for this State mandated Board. The Hartsdale Public Parking District is quite different than other Boards - they are a non-taxing entity. They are a user supported entity. Their operations, including the appointment of commissioners is mandated by a State Legislative Act. The first question the Town should have asked is whether or not the person they were appointing met the criteria. He does not.
The other area of the State Law indicates that the Town Board has the authority to fill a vacancy on the Board. THERE WAS NO VACANCY ON THE BOARD IN APRIL WHEN THEY MADE THIS APPOINTMENT.
Elected Officials are legally obligated to follow the law. They don't get to pick and choose which ones they like and which ones they don't like. If they think a law is unjust or unconstitutional there are methods, legal methods, for chaning them. They must follow the law until such time that a court determines a law to be unjust or unconstitutional. This is America. This is how we operate. This is how we live as a civilized, law-abiding society - except of course for Paul Feiner.
Feiner does not and will never follow the law when it comes to placing his cronies in place to suit his wants.
He says that he has a law degree.
How much did that papere cost him.
