I'll go where others are afraid and ask: how many hours is this unfortunate kid available for work?

1) full time student which to me means attending classes
2) college students generally need time to study
3) dialysis treatments three times a week plus transportation take how much time
4) getting to and from school (assuming all the classes don't occur the same time) and to and from work also takes time
5) let's not ignore the usual timewasters like sleeping, eating and bathing.

The point is not that I'm unsympathetic toward this kid's plight but like most of what the Supervisor does, this post (albeit not written by him) is consistent.

He has merely posted what looks like the kid's "seeking work" classified ad; Feiner's part zeroing in on the medical condition as feathers in his insatiable publicity cap and then he sets HIMSELF up as the go-between (for reasons we are only too familiar with) because he didn't take the effort to ask the basic weeding out questions:

How many hours is the student available?
When is the student available (days, hours)?

Where the job need be located, whether there are any physical limitations etc...these could be discussed later. In the meantime, the Supervisor never has a day too busy that he can't stop to take the time to deal with one constituent at a time and still be supporting political candidates.

Perhaps some part of tax increases are due to ahving a Town Supervisor whose Town responsibilities are found instead near the middle of a lengthy to-do list.

Hal, Hal, Hal.... HOW CAN EVEN YOU BE SOOO IGNORANT AND INSENSITIVE? YOU HAVE REALLY GONE OVER THE LINE. I AM FINALLY APPALLED AT YOUR STATEMENTS AND QUESTIONS. IF I WERE THIS KID'S PARENT I WOULD DEFINITELY SEEK A ONE ON ONE MEETING WITH YOU.

If I were going to consider this young boy for a position I would definitely like to know the answers to Hals' question,
How can anyone offer a job without the knowlege of availability.
If one has all the information then maybe someone will come foward with a result.

Thanks to my postings, a job has been found.

There's that lawyer again. If from experience, I believe the Supervisor I wouldn't be asking for clarification.

I hope the student has found a job.
I even hope he got his job not through the NY Times but from Feiner's blog.
I also hope that the Supervisor will, even knowing that it will be difficult to verify, respond a little more narrowly than
"Thanks to my postings, a job has been found."

Because this could be the summary of all of his postings on his blog and someone has gotten one of them or even a job with Feiner or even that one of Feiner's friends whom he "reached out to" responded. And not knowing how many hours or for how long, we don't know very much whether this answer is only technically true.

Paul, why is there no longer a Miscellaneous Blog? And why, can't you answer this question -- it has been asked multiple times.

Dear Anonymous,

The Supervisor is still busy learning that residents are having a hard time paying higher taxes.
Since he can't come to the blog let me fill in for him.

The miscellaneous topic gave rise to residents writing their minds about topics that interested or concerned THEM which was the original talking point for providing the Feiner blog (see masthead). Since it became "popular", the Supervisor has had to endure a lot of criticism while getting little support other than from his own unsigned entries and Detective Double Dip.

This being the case, the Supervisor decided not to provide an outlet for this criticism at present; instead choosing to promote from his list of unthought out ideas and heart-rending tales of woe. That few of these topics were things that the Supervisor would ever follow up on after posting, he hopes that it will present himself as a man for whom no matter is too small to occupy his thoughts for long.

But why has it been dropped now?
Since he's running unopposed what harm can it generate?

When running unopposed there is no victory other than success. You can win with one vote cast. Burdened by the thought that no one would come out and vote, the Supervisor knows he would be the County laughing stock if he couldn't win with enough votes to call it a mandage from the people.
Thus he needs to present himself as spongeworthy (see bicycle post) and get lots of people out to pull his lever.

Without a turnout, he will be relected but without a basis to say that the people either believe him or believe in him.

So, in the spirit of the musical version of The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, Feiner neither wants anyone to peer behind the curtain or bring him no bad news. And he certainly isn't going to sponsor the venue where it will occur.
