any truth behind this rumor Paul. I was told the reason the pools were not open was due to the fact that when the commissioner asked for overtime to get the pools ready they were denied. And is it not also fact that 60,000 dollars of our tax money is budgeted for the parks department maintenance staff to put together such things in a timely manner. Was it a lie that the pumps were broken past weekend or was it because our tax dollars aren't being put to use.

Watch the Town Board work session. The Town Board seems intent to try to keep tax hikes as low as possible and has been saying no to overtime requests.

That's why the pool is not ready.
Too much work and no overtime.
This is another way to cut services.
Stop paying for some of the children who attend the camps and maybe we will get some of our services back

You know very well that the parents of the children who go to the camp can very well afford the expense.

Stop the freebees and give us back our services that we pay for in our taxes.

The value of assets held by the state pension fund plunged 26 percent last year, losing about $44 billion, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said yesterday. The drop could mean increases of 10 percent or more in property taxes in many cities and villages and other municipalities, the head of the Conference of Mayors said. The total hit on taxpayers statewide could be about $1.2 billion, a DiNapoli spokesman said

I bet this info was in Michael Kolesar report

Yeah, that and a cure for cancer and the 3 step plan to achieve world peace.

All the pools were very nice today (water cold, however). Parks employees did a great job.

Those are the same employees that haven't received a raise for the past one and half years.

why didnt all these crybabies take a job with the guaranteed pension..of course the taxpayers have to make up the difference...thats the way it goes..i took a low paying job in the 80's making about half of most of my friends salaries..in four years, ill collect about 80K a year in pension money until I die...the state jobs were open to anyone all you needed to do was fill out an application , take the job,and get the pension

Taxpayers are now contributing 7.5 percent of the payroll costs to the fund for most workers, and about 16 percent for police and firefighters, whose pensions are more lucrative than those of other public servants. Contributions from workers and profits from the investments pick up the rest of the tab.DiNapoli said a "ballpark" figure of the higher rate in 2011 is 11 percent for most workers. He'll announce the final figure in September. A similar increase for police and firefighters would drive up the cost to taxpayers to more than 23 percent of what those workers' salaries are.

What is going on with basic maintenance in the town. Taxes go up service goes down. I went to go water my plot at the Farm which I pay a fee for and when I went to go do this over the weekend I couldn't even find my plot. The grass is well over 2 feet in certain areas and a lot of my vegetables are doing poorly because it is impossible to find a hose to water anything. Paul I believe everyone that pays for a plot at the Farm should be given their money back. If no one is going to take care of this land maybe the town shouldn't offer such a thing.

Where is this Farm.

Every community in the nation is experiencing budget difficulties.

Anonymous said...

Most communities are open and transparent about the fiscal problems they are facing and what they have already done and plan to do about them, while others, like Greenburgh, prefer to keep the matter a state secret. Communities that adopt the secrecy approach usually have something important they'd prefer to hide from the public -- and hope that they can get away with general comments like "every community in the nation is experiencing budget difficulties."

why is called the town pool?
its not open to all residents of the town.

too bad the small minded folks on the recreation committee cannot be more neighborly like dobbs ferry and hastings which have opened their pools on a limited basis to non-villagers.

The adult pools at Veteran Park are in need of a major overhaul, having outlived their useful lives. They will cost millions of dollars to replace. Would the residents of the villages (i.e., Ardsley) who would like access be willing to pay their share of the capital costs to finance that majorrenovation? I didn't think so. Maybe those Ardsley residents who want access will use the Dobbs and Hastings pools from now on since they're so "neighborly." Nah, didn't think they'd do that either.

huh?

when the veteran pool is closed, where are all the good folks from unincorporated greenburgh going to go? maybe they will convert their library into a pool?

btw, irvington residents have also expressed interest in access to veteran pool.

the difference is that 20% of the pool is in the village of ardsley, so ardsley subsidizes the pool for unincorporated. unincorporated has no shame.

Ardsley, the pool is a better deal than housing which would send kids to your schools.

the greenburgh civil war continues.
but scorekeepers know the villages are winning and unincorporated (an amorphous mess, whose residents take little interest in their government), are falling further behind and being taxed to the maximum but getting less in terms of services.

the best evidence is that hideous wall in front of webb field that is crumbling. thats the future.

WHY DOESNT HARTSDALE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPOND TO EMS CALLS.

ONCE AGAIN HARTSDALE GETS THE SHAFT.

ITS TIME THAT WE HAVE CHANGE!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Sorry to say that we do take interest in town affairs but it is the town that does not take care of the unincorporated areas.
Construction is the pits.
Jobs going on for years,
Cutting of trees without permits.
Grass up the gazoo.
Dirty side and front yards.
These are all complaints that hit the building department but as one can see they are not doing their job.
Leave that wall alone that is not a problem that disturbs our way of life.

The Hartsdale FD do respond to EMS calls, when they are called.
