Just got off the phone with Sandy Miller of Con Ed. She advises that there are possible environmental problems in the Con Ed manpoles. Con Ed is doing tests. They have retained the services of an environmental contractor to clean up the manholes - immediately, as warrnated..
This will delay the re-occupancy of 180 & 170 E Hartsdale Ave. She now believes that people may be able to move back tomorrow. However, each unit owner has to have an individual inspection completed at thier home.
It's very aggravating.
The drug store on East Hartsdale Ave has re-opened.

If you call Con Ed they will give you a lot of double talk and say the town and the fire department are the cause of all delays. They also carry implied threats such as we have regulations and if we followed them all and you can be out another week so you better not make any noise if you know what is good for you. The truth is that Con Ed has, at the end of the repairs and after the town plumbing inspector approved the work has taken this chance to bring 180 up to modern code and despite the building's assurance that it would do everything after we move back in has decided to hold all of the residents hostage. They have the power and will use it to play their games and at this moment all who want to act in good faith are powerless. The balance of power shifts the moment we get back in. I hope there are several hundred complaints to the NYS Public Service Commission and that Con Ed must pay fees for each one of them after we get back in. This will cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars and this is the only thing these people, who could care less about you or me, must feel it in their bonus checks.

Mr Feiner, I assume that the town will be waving the fees for the certificates of occupancy..."volunteering" to assist these co-op owners just as you are asking the engineers and architects to do.
I will ask the Town Board to waive all fees including c/o permits. This action requires 3 votes on the Town Board. I hope that the board will support this recommendation.
