"A resolution before the (Yonkers) City Council tomorrow asks the state Legislature to pass bills calling for the removal of the tolls in Yonkers on the New York State Thruway ..."

I think it would be in our best interest to support Yonkers' resolution or to submit our own request to the state along with Yonkers.

We need more construction along Central Ave. Many places are going out of business, Tax payers need help.

To enter or leave Veteran Park you have to go thru the village of Ardsley. Yet Ardsley residents (other than some categories of volunteers) cannot use Veteran Park even though it is essentially in Ardsley. The last Town budget shows Veteran Park is running at a loss of over $200,000. Anecdotal evidence indicates that use of the facility has been decreasing. Under these circumstances, it seems foolish not to open Veteran Park to at least residents of the Ardsley School District so the families of the District can spend the summer together if they want.

7:38 makes a good point, which makes me wonder ... While the supervisor is taking care of heated sidewalks, recycling reminders via text messages, library reading rooms and such, who's managing the economic development and overall strategic planning for the town?

Anonymous said...

Does the supervisor look at the big picture?
Yes--on the library! He's the only elected official who is scrutinizing what's happening. If the other town council members had listened to his recommendations the library construction would have already started and taxpayers would have saved millions.

We better forget about the library for now. We will not have enough monies to start this project now, Let's make with what we have now. No one listened to peoples voices when this issue came up, I think it's time to take another look at the wishes of the population, not just a chosen few [4000 ].....

Where is the Panera Bread going up on Central Ave.? Is this project still happening?

I'd like to hear Paul Feiner thoughts on the idea of Greenburgh (or seperate villages) getting rid of snow parking during the winter and instead declaring snow emergencies as needed. This is a common practice in other municipalities and throughout the entire state and country. This would free up significant parking on East Hartsdale Avenue.

Why is the Town giving another $100,000 to the Fairview Fire District? (See the draft agenda for the Town Board's meeting for Wednesday, Febryary 28th) Have we not learned anything yet?

A builder purchased the property along the Nature Center ,with intentions to build. We do not need more open green spaces .What we need is Help with the taxes. EDGEMONT Community COUNCIL is becoming a dictatorship.Pretty soon the community council will be monitoring every move we make. Why is it that the town listens to what Edgemont wants more than any other area in Greenburgh?

Dear 5:14,

Don't be fooled by the Edgemont mafia The Dromore parcel is not "open space". The playing fields of the adjacent Edgemont High School are open space -- as is the Nature Center. One Dromore is not the missing piece of the puzzle.

How do you get to this "open space"?
Where will you park at this "open space" without losing land to parking spaces?
No one lives near this parcel other than the occupants of the adjacent Scarsdale Woods condominium.

Whether the developer can build has become more problematic recently however clearly what Edgemont is seeking is not the false threat of being "capacity" challenged but the fear that more patrons of the Red Lobster will want to live in Edgemont and share the school system.

Who sits at the next desk beside their "Johnny" and "Jane" is the real issue; not whether there is room to teach the three Rs.

I too dont understand the idea behind the overnight parking restrictions. We cant park overnight, and after snow storms we cant park there during the day while the town removes snow.

Anonymous said...

Good point, 12:03, they do clear the snow during the daytime, which completely defeats the purpose of the overNIGHT ban.

Anonymous said...

Hal,

they will park at the same area that visitors to Taxter Ridge park

I'm proud of you Steve Bass and Paul Feiner for voting against the contract giving the Democratic party chair's law firm a big contract. I don't want to see Greenburgh government become another tammany hall.

Anonymous said...

to anon at 8:44am

Even if the law firm is the most qualified? Feiner is making it up about conflicts and interviews and Bass needs something on his resume to say he is independent. And don't believe the bs that its the law firm of the democratic party chair. its not. as has been often said, the perfect should not be the enemy of the good.

Anonymous said...

The person who did not want to interview other law firms, was Sheehan.Did he interview anyone else for the position as gopher for his how to do ,say, think job. I would have like to have a stupid job like that earning $50gs.a year. That position was not posted anywhere. Thank you Bass and Feiner for voting no,I think they call that conflict of interets. For the other three monkey sees monkey does.

Anonymous said...

Francis, you have changed. Please go back and be the person we voted for - independent, open, careful. Our town party chair may be your friend. She may be your supporter. That doesn't mean her firm should be given a lucrative contract.

I am looking into buying a large parcel of land in Edgemont. My intention is to have section 8 for all apartments.Sheenhan i would like to use your yes vote lawyer.

Anonymous said...

Is Sheehan planning to restore patronage to greenburgh hiring and consulting contracts? Like the good 'ld days before Tony Veteran was elected as Supervisor? The contract given to a party chair's law firm stinks!

Anonymous said...

SHEEHAN I'TS TIME TO STEP DOWN. YOU SHOULD LEAVE WITH A LITTLE BIT OF DIGNITY.YOUR FORENSIC SCIENCE DEGREE IS NOT FOR HOLDING A POLITICAL POSISTION.

Anonymous said...

Lets say thanks to Sheehan. I read in the Scarsdale Inquiror that he was the one who figured out that the zoning maps were inaccurate and that the Dromore property was not located in a multi family zone.

Three chears for him.

This points out another need for a moratorium -- to update all zoning maps, etc.

Anonymous said...

Hip hip horray Sheehan found something about the parcel along the Nature center. All of a sudden the zoning maps are incorrect. Please give me a break.Who CHANGED THE MAPS TO LOOK GOOD .Sheehan wants to come up smelling like roses, for this investigation,HE COMES UP AS A THORN IN PEOPLES SIDES.the only problem is where was he when the property was purchased. EDGEMONT GOT TO HIM .

After all these years Greenburgh needs a moratorium on construction. It is not Greenburgh looking for this change it's EDGEMONT.I'm sure that many other areas would welcome legal multiple dwellings. You're forgetting that land is being purchased to build housing. If government says ok for low income housing what will Edgemont do.If there is too much traffic at school time ,request a contract with a bus company. How many cars would be off the road .At one time many years ago we had a bus service ,maybe this is needed again since the excuse for multiple dwellings would be too many cars to and from the school. What ever reason Edgemont comes up with to have a moritorium, were problems that always existed in their area.Taxes will be going up, what else is new.THE TAXES ARE NOT GOING UP BECAUSE OF MULTIPLE DWELLINGS,they are going up because of all the extras that are added for after school programs.SCHOOLS,are needed to teach the children not to make them excell in sports. Look at the religious school system. The parents not only pay tuition, but they also pay Greenburgh school taxes.

Anonymous said...

The town board should be looking at all of Greenburgh, not just a chosen few. Each and every household pays taxes, not only Edgemont. If buildings or new stores are built, taxes are supposed to go down, has anyone checked as to why this is not happening.Of course not.SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE. SHEEHAN how about investigating as to whats wrong .

Anonymous said...

Sheehan, stores are going out of business along Central Ave.and you're pushing for a moritorium on Central Ave.What will your friends say when their taxes go way up.CARVEL WILL BE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS,so I hear. The owner of the property wanted to build stores ,what happened to his request. If someone could answer this question,as to is this true or just hearsay.Moritorium, hell no.

Anonymous said...

to anon who asks who changed the maps,

The answer would be a town employee, under the superivison of Mr. Feiner, changed them unlawfully, years ago.

The town assesment and zoning maps are not up to date. it it long overdue for feiner to deal with it

and what is his plan???
