HASTINGS CONSIDERS BANS ON LEAF BLOWERS--SHOULD GREENBURGH DO THE SAME?

the village of Hastings is holding a hearing on Tuesday night to consider adopting a ban on leaf blowers. Should Greenburgh do the same?
The Public Hearing is first, on the Leaf Blower Ordinance.
Very briefly, the Ordinance proposes limiting leaf blower use to:
Fall - October 15 to December 15 (2 months)
Spring - April 1 to May 15 (6 weeks)
For more details:
There are two versions - the Board has yet to decide on enforcement - who should be fined in the event that the Ordinance is not respected - the homeowner or the landscaping company. All the other items are the same.
I have asked the Conservation Advisory Council to make recommendations on this matter.

Does Hastings bag their leaves?
This is a law that you should look into.
The blowers have to be used to clean ones property.
What you should do is state a time to start but not to ban them completley.
I have to clean my property every week, because of my neighbors leaves.
If someone can work a miracle to stop the heavy winds that would be a great solution.

yes, I am for banning for most times of the year. Or see if there are newer models that are under a certain decibel level.

I guess you don't have tres or leaves where you reside.
How about getting earplugs.

I'm not for a total ban but I'm defiantly for tighter restrictions on when blowing is allowed. Saturdays should be limited and Sundays and all holiday weekends should be off limits.

It's unfortunate that it appears that newer residents do not show any common courtesies to their neighbors anymore. I could be hosting a BBQ & my neighbor will come out and decided to mow or blow. Homeowners with their own mowers & blowers (not hiring landscapers) are the worst! They go at it for an hour or two. Not at all like the landscapers that come in and out in about 15-20 minutes. Also, the landscapers usually don't work on the weekends or holidays.

I would never, ever have my landscaper come on a weekend and as it never occured to me to torcher my neighbors this way.

SHOULD GREENBURGH DO THE SAME? Nope. It's just not that big of a problem. There are so many more essential quality-of-life matters that the town needs to attend to before tackling little things like this.

You don't wamt to pass a law to have the leaves bagged, then Have the DPW pick up leaves more often than twice arround.

We already have laws in place that are not enforced. Why make new laws? We still have people walking in the street with stolen shopping carts in broard daylight and leaving them where ever. Also there are people who put garbage at the curb when ever they feel like, last I checked we have set times and days when to place garbage out at the curb. Again, there are a few house om Prospect Ave. by Fair St. that store their garbage at the curb 24 hrs a day/7days a week!

The DPW staff could definitely do a lot more work during the regular workday.

You could complain all you want there has to be an understanding between the sanitation dept, that certain home owners can put their garbage curbside for pick up four times a week.
This is not only in your area,it happens in many areas throughout Greenburgh.
What we should all do is put our garbage out along side by the home owners garbage for pickup.
One can see large sanit.trucks pickup all that is put curbside on any day.
To whom must this complaint be sent to.
The DPW does not give a dam.
Like I say everyone should put their garbage curbside everyday and it will be picked up.

Al Regula do you know how to read english.
If not give us a hint to the language of your choice and we will oblige you with the garbage complaints.

PASS A LAW TO BAG ALL LEAVES FOR PICKUP.
YOU WOULD SAVE A LOT OF MONEY BECAUSE THERE WOULD BE NO OVERTIME-
YOU WOULD HAVE CLEANER ROADS.
LEAVES COULD BE PICKED UP WHEN IT IS YARD WASTE DAY.
YOUR ROADWAYS WOULD NOT BE DAMAGED BY THE JAWS FOR LEAVES.
TRAFFIC WOULD NOT BE BACKED UP TO MAIN ROADS WHILE PICKUP WERE BEING MADE WITH ABOUT 7 MEN WORKING 2 FOR TRAFFIC AND 5 ON THE GROUND OH I FORGOT THE GUY IN THE JAWS AND THE MAN DRIVING THE LARGE TRUCK.
HOW MUCH MONEY CAN THE RESIDENTS SAVE FIGURE IT OUT REGULA.

Al Regula, when will you get in your car to drive arround the roadways to check out what is being put out curbside,

I'LL BE WATCHING FOR YOU.

Hey Al your men picked up all curb side garbage today.
I didn't see you driving arround doing an inspection as to what was being thrown out.
Next garbage collection we are all putting our garbage curbside and it had better be picked up.

Hopefully Mr. Regula will be the next to be thrown out.
