DOG PARK IS A MAJOR SUCCESS

I'm amazed at how popular our new dog park is --at Rumbrook Park. I have stopped by the park a number of times since the park opened. the park seems to be getting lots of great use--every day of the week, at all times of the day. This park will probably be one of the most popular recreation areas in the entire town park system.
We're planning to work on fundraising for the park and will be selling bricks to dog owners. They will be able to put their name, the names of their dogs on the brick and write a short description. The bricks will be placed at the entrance to the dog park.
The funds raised will be used to enhance the park.

Can we name it "Lobo Park" after Pulitzer Prize-winning author MacKinlay Kantor's dog Lobo, buried in Hartsdale Pet? Lobo is featured in many of MacKinlay's books!

Maybe the family can give us MONEY!

What kind of enhancements does a dog park need?

I have been there 4 - 5 times and it is great. Their are always people there . We all solcialize and there are even kids of some dog owners running around too! I really is a great place. I would suggest benches though.

Since this park is a big success how about getting rid of the other parks to lower our taxes.

Does anyone know what they are building on Central Ave in Hartsdale across from Chef Central? It was the old Gaseteria gas station and it is now undergoing construction. Glad to see another property not sitting vacant for decades.

What happened to the general section for uncategorized comments such as mine ;)

Is James Robinson going back to the community center?
or are you going to waste more money in the rec dept?
If he is not going to monitor the dog park, move him back to the center now!!

Anonymous said...

Why should James Robinson move back to the TDYCC? Huh? What? We don't waste enough money there already?

Yes, we have no misc. columnn, so let me post here. I saw a sign up the library is looking to hire clerks at 12-15/hour. Does the town/library not understand that is way over market. The town has to cut. Easiiest way -- new hires get what you get in the real world, no benefits and real wages.

to anon 8:40AM i believe a Starbucks

Anonymous said...

Why is part of the dog park closed for repairs alread, and just before the busiest time the WEEKEND! I hope we the town taxpayers have not paid the contractor in full yet.

Anonymous said...

"If" Starbucks ever makes it in there, they won't last long. Beside the economy, that stretch of Central is cursed for any food vendor.

To anonymous 10/17 5:21 pm
You said the weekends are the busiest times. Why your dogs keeps it in all week and waits for weekends ?

Anonymous said...

In these difficult economic times I believe that the library should use existing staff. I do not support any new hiring by any dept. We must work to avoid layoffs. That means no new hires.

SHAME ON WHITEHEAD

How dare you go around saying they "gave" the position to William Carter! Are you kidding us? Dr Carter, in the most extreme contrast possible to you, got the job based on merit, qualifications, and established a work related track record. You on the other hand received a gift. You deserve credit for one thing and one thing only, selling a bill of goods to Sonia Brown. Don't feel too bad Sonia, she's fooled many others before you. While many dedicated staff worked hard at their jobs, you gave Sonia a steady stream of lies which misrepresented your limited abilities. You're doing the same now to Dr Carter.
Ok, fast talkin' got you the job, but then you BLEW IT! Taxpayers had to settle for an under qualified person placed in her FIRST leadership position at the Center. However then you introduced your personal problems to the Center. You dragged the whole Department in your mud. Why should Teddy's name be tarnished because you felt a need to hand out no show jobs? Many of our young men need jobs and are willing to work hard when they receive an opportunity. But no, you had to hand over paychecks to felons! Did you really think you could trust them based on their past history? Everyone knows they have been milking you for years.
The Whitehead freebies: $10,000 for a one day trip to Playland; Free all you could eat BBQ at Family Day (Imagine doing that at Veteran's Park?); Full staffing when the building was closed to programs in September. You're very generous with Taxpaper's money!
You could have been Deputy. You could have done something that would have made a name for yourself. You could have retired with honor and respect. You could have respected Paul and Sonia. You decided to embarrass the Town Council, the Center, your Church, and the Community, by your shady wrong doings. Now the place is under police investigation because of you.
Hay Girlfriend, they had a party for Hopeton and William, they ain't gunna have nothin' for you except scorn. Everyone will look back at your time as temporary Head as the worst chapter in the Center's history.
The only reason you're still on payroll is due to Paul's charity.
RESIGN NOW!!!!!

GET RID OF TTDYCC! The TOG is not a charity organization! Call Boy & Girls Clubs of America and see if they will move in and & run it. Get this monster off of the books! NOW!

Median HH Income Fairview 60.3K
Percent of families at or below poverty level 9.6% or 63 families. The other 610 HH' have incomes above the poverty line.

Hartsdale has 1.6% families living at or below the poverty line. That means 45 families.

The median HH income for New York ENTIRE is 48.9k

The Median HH income for the Bronx is 34.4K

HEEEELLLLOO?

How is the world is Fairview even qualifying for all this grant money that we HAVE TO match?

Why, why, why is all of our hard earned money being poured into this one small community when the MAJORITY DO NOT NEED OR DO NOT QUALIFY FOR FUNDS? WHY?

Anonymous said...

Paul take note of the comment brfore mine.
You believe in statics.
What more proof do you want that you have been stealing our money to give to Fairview.
You are not a friend to the taxpayers you are the biggest enemy we have.

Paul's charity is right...using my money. The center should be "history". I no longer wish to donate to "Paul's charities".

My child learned how to swim at the TDYCC. The programs are worthwhile and should continue to be funded.

Anonymous said...

8:42,
Your child could have had a private swim coach for all of the money it cost you and is going to cost you in the future, in taxes that support the center.

Anonymous said...

8:42 tell me did you pay for the lessons or were they given aqt taxpayers expense.

Hey, a compromise:
Name this park for Gordon Parks. It could be called the Gordon Parks Dog Park and Feiner Photo Op.

Anonymous said...

Better:
Gordon Parks Dog and Feiner Photo Op Park

Anonymous said...

Did Gordon Parks even have a dog? We know Feiner doesn't - he's gone so far as to ban animal circus acts in Greenburgh.

Anonymous said...

Ah, but how he LOVES those Photo Ops!
Bread and Circuses!

Anonymous said...

I'm glad something is a success - even if it only highlights how the Town is going to the dogs...

Anonymous said...

The "dog park" is yet another venture funded exclusively by taxpayers in unincorporated Greenburgh yet available for use by all town residents, including residents of the villages. In other words, a village-freebie.

Anonymous said...

"Dog park is a major success"
Then why the hell do you need more money from unincorporated tax payers [who don't even use this park]to make it a state of the art .
Paul you have got to be sick.
You should charge those that are the frequent users not all the people.
This is a load of crap.
It is very sad when one has to count the days until the next election to see some sort of relief for the public.
.

Anonymous said...

How about a nominal fee for use of the park?
If Xposure is charging $300 per year per child, why not charge $300 per canine per year?
The town could issue dog license tags and properly tagged dogs could use the dog parks. It's called a "user fee" and seems completely appropriate.
For those that choose not to buy a tag, a $500 fine for the first offense would encourage purchasing a tag - allowing a one day use permit for $10 would cover those who are "just visiting."
Think about it Mr. Feiner - 300 permits at $300 each is $90,000 a year in income to support the park.

Anonymous said...

Wait. Why is the park closed? There must be repairs already?
Paul, what is going on?????

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know if there is a connection between the falling price of Potash (POT, NYSE) and other publicly traded fertilizer manufacturers and the increase in dog parks in Greenburgh.

Woof?

Just back from vacation - same SH__it different day!

Valerie Whitehead still in place as Interim Commissioner - WHY? WHY?

What the hell is wrong with Paul Feiner -

I was suspended for for misspelling a word; being late with a report which had no bearing on the finanaces of the TOWN. Others have been suspended for much less.

This woman (Whitehead)is under a CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION fraud, misappropriating funds, paying no show employees ($52,000)- WHY is she being allowed to squander more tax dollars?? What is the rationale?? Maybe tighten the noose around her neck??

Explain this to us Paul, Francis, Kevin, Diana - We know Sonia Brown is on the take being paid on the sly by Gay Silverman to. This is ridiculous.

INVOICE FOR GAY SILVERMAN

Whereas you have entered into an agreement to rent space at the Theodore D. Young Community Center, and as a good responsible taxpayer, conscientious of the financial burden placed on our valued town residents, this letter serves to remind you that you owe $20,000.00 in rental fees which was duly noted from last January. Simply put, we taxpayers don’t know where you get the chutzpa from, to go to a town board meeting and play victim while shamelessly pandering to temporary commissioner, Valerie Whitehead. Add to the fact that you put down the efforts of the entire staff, who work hard every day to put out the best programs possible plus contrary to your comment, do indeed welcome everyone who enters through the center’s doors.

Now let’s figure this out:

A Valerie desperately needs money.
+ B You haven’t paid your bill.
= C: More shady wrongdoings!

Can you smell kickback?

It’s highly suspect when the department head praises the efforts of a space renter who is ten months behind in her rental fees. The temp lady should have initiated some efforts to collect money that was due to the town!

Paul, please investigate this.

PS. Gay, I’m sending you some kneepads. They should be useful at your next town board meeting.
