TOWN, VILLAGES COOPERATE AND REDUCE COSTS BY BULK PURCHASING

This past week the Town Board awarded a contract to resurface various streets in Ardsley, Elmsford, Hastings, Tarrytown and Greneburgh. We were able to reduce costs by bulk purchasing. The town and each of the villages will assume the costs of the work applicable to their governing entity. This is a small but important cost savings initiative. We're working hard to reduce the costs of governing.

Now THIS is an intelligent municipal management! :-)

So you buy in bulk. Now where do you store it? Probally have to rent a place which will cost more. Correct???

Good work!

Now combine the police, fire, sanitation and parks departments and you can achieve some really meaningful savings.

The villages are used to getting Town of Greenburgh services without paying. They dont want to pay for what they have been getting for free.

There you go again, Anonymous 1:02. No matter what the situation, and no matter how much good it does, and no matter how irrelevant it is to the situation at hand, you manage to turn it into your never-ending anti-village gripe.

It would make a lot of sense to combine the three fire departments in Unincorporated Greenburgh into one Greenburgh Fire Department.

its called village envy
sad

The only sense about the fire dept's is stop training the police for rescue calls, the fire dept's are already trained. it's a duplication.
Paul, if you look into this, you can save manpower hours that are wasted on training, that is done by Firefighters.

How much did you save?

To "rent me" at 8:21am on 10/19.....store what? It is a service that is purchased in bulk (road repaving). Hasty negative commentaries are not helping anyone.

I agree with 10:22, Stop training the cops as firefighters and train them in police work. That could be a big savings

Paul may I ask you a question.

At the budget work session you denied a request for the assistant comptroller to attend a class to continue his studies in finance, which is needed to be up to date with new methods and laws .The funding was denied yet when it came to the PD a request was made to send the EMS person back to school for extra traing and it was granted. Both of them are important to this town..
WHY ONE AND NOT THE OTHER.
I would like your answer on this asap.

Who will be in charge of the purchases. It had better not be Regula.

In addition to not identifying how much is being saved, it would be useful to know if this is merely an example of "spending to save".

Was all of this roadwork needed, intended, intended now or just lumped together for the purpose of allowing the purchase of raw materials in bulk? If the former, let's see the RFPs for the bidding.

If this is being touted by the same mastermind (spelled Al Regula) that oversaw the Library expansion, then whatever savings are implied by this post will quickly be lost to:

1) a $47,000 change order to allow for the increased cost of asphalt
2) a $12,000 change order to make taxpayers pay for roadside curbs that were not poured to NYS DOT specs.

This is merely another one of the Supervisor's commercials; this one scripted to the promotional campaign slogan -- "where the robber meets the road".

It must be another GoodYear in Greenburgh.

REGULAR SHOULD NOT BE PUT N CHARGE IF THIS PROJECT.
He has a problem of becoming a silent partner in all town projects.

Anon 10/20/2008 6:09 PM Re: EMS school
Many of the EMS schools are required. If the paramedics dont go to the required classes the town can lose its ability to provide the EMS service. While it ay be benificial for the asst comptroller to attend the class it is probably not mandated by a governing body such as EMS requriements are.

Regardless whether it is required or not the town should not have denied the assistant comptroller the monies to further his knowledge in what is needed to serve this town .
Many corporations pay for this with one stipulation if the person fails they have to pick up the tab.
The money in question was not that much for any other new methods that may be learned to help this defunct town.

The only thing that someone who has been in charge for as long as Regula has, sees $$$$$$$.
Paul we had a fiasco with town garage where the building was built to house garbage trucks .when this project was completed it was too small for the large trucks.
At Veterans park the one building has had how much repair work done to the roof over and over again.
The library that was supposed to be on budget and on time .
He assured the public that everything was running smooth.
Well how smooth did it run if it's behind as far as the opening date, no furnishings and he has the gall to say that everything is great.
Paul wake up.
If this project does go thru dont give the reigns to Regula.
The savings will not be in favor of the taxpayers but in Regula's pocket.
