WESTHAB TO TURN FORMER HOMELESS SHELTER INTO AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR WORKING PEOPLE

WESTHAB PLANNING TO DEMOLISH OLD HOMELESS SHELTER AND TO TURN IT INTO AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR WORKING PEOPLE
APPLICATION FOR ZONING AMENDMENT FILED - TOWN BOARD TO REVIEW PROPOSAL

WESTHAB is proposing to demolish the old WESTHAB homeless shelter and to construct a new six story multi family dwelling. The proposed project would have about 42 dwelling units, 17 studio apartments, 15 single bedroom apartments and 10 two bedroom apartments providing workforce housing to members of the community. There will also be an elevator, laundry facilities, a community room and a fully landscaped green roof that is intended to provide outdoor passive recreation space for resident use.
Access to the property will be from existing curb cuts on Tarrytown Road and County Center Road. 51 park spaces are being proposed, 30 at grade level and 21 parking spaces below grade level.
This proposed housing will be only be for people who work. In the past the property has been used as a homeless shelter. An amendment to the zoning laws are required. The application must also be reviewed by the Planning Board.
If you want to be kept informed of this application please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com. Or….drop me a note and I’ll advise you of all public hearings on this application. I would welcome the opportunity to speak to you personally to discuss the proposed application in greater detail.
Your input is always appreciated.

No matter what the supervisor tries to do for the betterment of some people there are idiots like you that have to throw in a monkey wrench.
Remember the forty empty units in the public housing is not the supervisors fault it should be addressed to the ones in charged in that department.
You have a housing authority board to foward your complaints.
Just remember the housing authority had a laison on the town board that never informed the supervisor of the vacancies or the deplorable conditions.
When this was brought foward the whole town board visited these complexes and saw first hand how the place was run.
Remember there are some people who do not belong in those apartments because they have good jobs and make good money.
The housing was for those that could not afford to live somewhere else.
I hope with this new board they will weed out the ones that have been taken advantage of living with little or no rent paid for some time.

I think that it's a good idea for Westhab to develop the former homeless property for afordable housing.

Some of the apartments should be reserved for some seniors.

My only problem is if Westhab will be paying taxes or if its going to be tax exempt.

I hope that they will be paying some taxes.

We need them to pay all the taxes for what the property is worth! not just some taxes.
The projects on Manhattan Ave amd Oak St don't pay a fair share for taxes either, but they have special police teams set up there for patrol. I don't undersatand how we can still operate like this!

It's called pandering for votes.

Affordable housing complexes should pay taxes,if not sell the property to a private developer.
THERE SHOULD BE NO MORE FREEBEES HERE IN GREENBURGH.
It was said many years ago if one lives in Westchester they are not poor just phonies.

I know there are alot of civil servants living there. I bet they have nice cars, cell phones and the like. They should pay taxes.
This goes for police officers and firefighters too

Why is it that all choice properties are being considered to make affordable housing.
Hoe about building somethingthat will bring in plenty of revenue.
If affordable housing is put up on all choice propert how can you generate enough revenue to take us out of the hole that was not of our choosing.
Wake up before you really bury us.

That is right check how many of these affordable rentees drive very good cars, have very good positions and could very well afford to pay rent the way many of us do.
How come no investigations are conducted until something drastic happenes that needs to be checked into.
WHO IS NOT DOING THEIR LOB.

When is the town going to realize that we have enough affordable housing .
We need housing that will bring in revenue .
The town has enough people on the wefare roles .
Does anyone investigate these people?
I don't think so if there was an investigation we would have more empty appartments.

There are forty vacant apartments in the housing complexes right.
Why not give these to working people and sell this parcel to a developer to bring in some good revenue which is needed.
What's the difference between this parcel and the other affordable complexes in Greenburgh.
Many of the tenants living in these complexes do not belong in affordable housing.
Each tenant should be investigated thoroughly.
If they want to live there they should pay their fair share.
It is federal funds that support these complexes which means our tax money is used to commit fraud .
