You need a person who is not part of the old bunch. The Comptroller's office has not served the town well. Pick a new face.

Why do you say the Comptroller's office has not served the Town well? Specifics?

Anonymous said...

The Comptroller has not kept the Town Board abreast of what was happening so that the news of the huge tax increase came as a complete surprise (I wonder if even the Comptroller knew what was happening), the very loose accounting for the Westhelp money, the absence of any meaningful interaction between the Comptroller's office and the other departments and the absence of metrics as to evaluating needs, etc. Need I go on?

The comptroller for the Town when the Westhelp money was received was stonewalled by Paul -- he refused to provide the contract to her. Lets not kid ourselves where the problems are.

I'm pretty sure some of these comments are coming from one of the comptroller candidates who wants the job.

who lost greenburgh?
feiner and juettner

time to retire these two self serving brain dead career politicos

Mr. 10:23, I wrote thoe comments and I am a resident, not a comptroller candidate. Quit being so paranoid.

We cannot blame the last comptroller alone for the problems we are facing in our town.
These problems started after Gisella ,I think that's her name retired.
After her retirement it was downhill all the way.
Cover ups one after the other. With the budget robbing from Peter to give to Paul
Juggling figures was the way they thought the town should be run because no one checked on what they said or did.
Yes we do need a good comptroller .
An honest one above all and second one who knows how big business is run.
I don't know if M.Kolesar was one of the candidates' I hope so.
Three votes will give us the best man who is qualified for this position.

The decisions about how the West Help money was to be used is one thing, and the New York Comptroller said it was illegal.

The way the money was accounted for is another thing, and that had nothing to do with Paul Feiner or the Town Board. That was an accounting issue, and all the comptrollers screwed it up. The last comptroller even knew about it and didn't change the accounting until the New York Comptroller got into it.

I agree with the person who said that the Comptroller's office didn't serve the town well. I also agree with the last blogger who suggested that Mr. Kolesar be considered. He seems to have the best qualifications and has no connection with previous comptrollers so he has nothing to protect from scrutiny.

and what qualifies juettner for her to pass on any of this? she voted for westhelp without any careful scrutiny the same inept way she foolishy voted to acquire taxter ridge.

ill bet juettner never even looked at taxter ridge. how could she? no one knows where it is or how to get there.

juettner - in office too long. too many mistakes.

jUETTNER IS THE LAISON FROM THE TOWN TO ALL LIBRARY AFFAIRS.
Why is it that no one was told by her of the wrong doings in the library.
She was to report to the town and the public of the goigs on at the library.
If many of us would have had knowledge of what will happen to our pocket books this year, a lot of thigs would not have passed our nose.
Isn't it funny two departments where two board members were laisons are now in so much trouble with the town and it's residents.
I'm referring to the center at Fairview and the library.
We must say that we had two watchdogs that were deaf, dumb and blind.

This is for the board members.
We need all the votes but three will be enough to put M.Kolesar in
the comptrollers seat.
He will be the only one to show you what errors were previously made that have cost the residents and will keep costing us more money for the coming years.
What was done by the other comptrollers cannot be corrected but with Kolesar we will know that it won't happen again.
Now it's up to the board to give us the residents an honest accounting of monies coming and going.

As far as Kolesar goes,he has no ties with anyone working for the town .
He will give us what we have been lacking in this office[Comptrollers] for too many years.
As Samis says just three votes.

Anonymous said...

Does Kolesar only care about village residents?

Is he prepared to sign a budget in accordant with the appealte court decsion?

Would he rather go to jail

Is 1:07 capable of asking intelligent questions, or has he been so poisoned that his mind no longer works.

It is his mentality that has pushed the last Town Board to make all the mistakes it has made.

Anonymous said...

Which of the comptrollers signed his or her name to the budjet.

Anonymous said...

Do Comptrollers sign their names to the budget? I thought that it was the Supervisor.

Anonymous said...

Who does sign the budget?

Anonymous said...

juettner is also liasion to the parks dept - another mistake. she doesnt pay taxes for the greenburgh library or greenburgh parks and rec.

juettner must be defeated in 2009.

Anonymous said...

TRUTHFULLY SPEAKING JUETTNER SHOULD RESIGN.
She has screwed up big time and we the tax payers have to pay.

I hope our new controller will help with the overtime expesnes. Below is a link to the yonkers report on police overtime (and I dont think we have the overtime situation, but we dont have the crime either), which has many helpful suggestions, including forming an overtime committee to review expenses.

To Mr./Ms. 1:07 PM:

Would you prefer bread on your sandwich or mustard?

Who is buried in Grant's tomb?

What state do the New York Super Bowl Giants play in?

Why do your back wheels go forward?

Are you a teacher of logic?

What were you trying to say at 1:07 PM?

Anonymous said...

Ed,

I thought I was pretty clear. Kolesar has been a tireless supporter of the Villages. Is he prepared to play fair with the unincorporated residents of Greenburgh? Isnt that part of the comptroller role? To be impartial?

Anonymous said...

The Comptroller is not a policy position. Kolesar knows his business, of that there is no doubt. The real question to ask is will he follow the law and accounting requirements. I am sure he will, and if he does he will be a major improvement over what the town has had before.

It will be quite interesting when the Dromore Road scandal is resolved and the rulings are made. First of all we may find out whether the zoning map was altered. We may finally learn the truth of the notorious meetings when Juettner, Barnes, Bass and Sheehan played rmusical chairs. Aside from that we may also find out the role of the super lawyer from Edgemont and his nefarious role.

We will all be waiting with baited breath whether there are indictments and resignations to follow. My sense is that there may just be a large smoking gun.

Anonymous said...

Well you must be 100% right McNally has not shown her face at town hall meetings.
Maybe she left the position that she had representing all the residents of Edgemont.
Maybe the heat got to her.
I know the lawyer was under the weather from previous comments on the blog it wll be very interesting to see the outcome of that case.
By all means the map was changed it was reported at a zoning meeting some time ago.
Since there is a case pending we will have to see the outcome in our local newspaper.

Anonymous said...

kOLESAR knows his business.
Did you ever stop to think it will take a man of his know how to unscramble all the figures that the other comptrollers put together since Gisiella retirement.
We have to put someone in this position who could pick up where the accounting for the town went array.

It would be quite interesting if the zoning map was manipulated. If in the civil case it was revealed that there were improprieties, I would hope the town would go to the DA or ask the AG for a special prosecutor from his office. The manipulation of that map and the possibility of a sub rosa deal, regarding the buying of land, for whatever purpose show be revealed to the public.
