KAPICA: MARINE UNIT TO BE STAFFED BY VILLAGE POLICE

Greenburgh Police Chief Kapica met with the Town Board in work session today and advised the Board that in 2008 the village police departments will be responsible for patrolling the Hudson. The town worked with the villages in setting up the marine unit and was able to help the river villages secure donated police boats. The chief indicated that he needs the resources of his police dept to patrol unincorporated Greenburgh streets.

Excellent decision ... Thanks! How much will that save in the budget?

Less than 6 hours of operations at TDYCC

Why is Kapica helping them secure donations? Let the villages do their own fundraising.

This is good news! Now the Town Board should look into not having the police do firefighters work,so they can work with Dobbs Ferry more.
Merge all the PD's in the Town and save money.
Merge School districts also.

I sure the people who they assisted or rescued were happy with their service!

Merging the four school districts is a great idea.
I,m sure that school taxes would be much less than they are now.
This would mean that the students would be equally divided within these school systems.
A good manager is needed for this project to assure the residents that taxes would dimmnish greatly.
We have to start some where to look at future savings why not start with the schools in these areas.
If it can be done then we could check out other money eating services.

Does the state police have the same unit watching the water ways.
Why not let them do their work since we pay enough into state taxes also..Duplication of services should be avoided.

THe marine unit has saved lives. Thank you police department for this life saver. Makes me proud to be a greenburgh resident.

Dear Proud Resident,

Are you the anonymous in the phone book with the unlisted phone number?

As they say, pride goeth before a faux.

There should be two classes of anonymous bloggers - incorporated residents and unincorporated residents. The former are proud residents of the Town, the latter are viscious malcontents whose anscestors threw tea in Boston harbor.

Incorporated residents = moochers who want town to buy all land and give to them

Unincorporated residents == people who pay

And this sentiment arrives during the season celebrating giving?

I would like to see proof, that the boat saved anyone. It was a waste from the beginning,It should never been maintained by the Town Police.
Now the Chief needs to cut some of the other crazy details out. I can't wait until Kevin Morgan gets into office, so he can advise Mr. Feiner where to make these cuts in the police dept.

Kevin Morgan will do nothing to the police department.

Don't be surprised at what Kevin can do.
Remember he is from the old school
who worked with some of the best officers.
Let's wait and see what he has up his sleeves as the new person on the board.
