HELP THE HOMELESS AND HUNGRY DURING HOLIDAYS

If you are feeling charitable and want to help the less fortunate - the following area organizations are worthy of your support. I obtained this information from the Westchester Coalition for the Hungry and Homeless website: foodclothingshelter.org.

Greenburgh town employees had a holiday party this Friday at Town Hall. The employees raised $300 for the town's nutrition program which feeds the elderly. For more information about the Greenburgh nutrition program and how you can help out - please call 693 8997.

Paul you seem to have forgotten the Catholic Churches.

They have poor people also.

This list was taken off the coalition website. Please add additional names to the list if you have names, contact info. PAUL FEINER

Yes we do have many poor families in Greenburgh parishes.

Sheehan how about following through
to get our poor some goodies for
Christmas.

We invite people to look into their hearts. Don't tell others what they should do. Practice what you tell others to do.
It's easy to encourage others to do good. It's harder for all of us to set positive examples and to be role models.
Can't we have one no mean spirited, no negative comments on a blog?

Can this town have one day with no fighting? No meanness? No personality attacks?

Anonymous said...

yes - as soon as we get honest leaders instead of the prevaricating five we now have.

The town officials that we have now just turn to one side of town .
They seem to forget that there are many people throughout Greenburgh that need help.

I don't care where the listing came from you Paul should have read the list before printing it.

Everyone regardless of their religion pay taxes in this town and we all should be considered but I guess in your mind poor people only live in one area.

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light;
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Ring out the grief that saps the mind,
For those that here we see no more,
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.

Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife;
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manners, purer laws.

Ring out the want, the care the sin,
The faithless coldness of the times;
Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes,
But ring the fuller minstrel in.

Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.

Ring out old shapes of foul disease,
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.

Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

One of our snow angels just spent the evening cleaning up the snow from a home in Edgemont. We help everyone - no matter where they live.

Of course, cynical readers might think this post is just another one of Paul's topics that go nowhere, like the inauguration bus that stalled. But you would be wrong because:

Mr. Feiner really believes.
Mr. Feiner believes so much that he is going to donate a meaningful $25,000 from his campaign fund's excess (way, way over $100,000) to assist the homeless and hungry.
And it won't even be money out of his pocket but from mostly Greenburgh residents who have contributed to his various campaigns.

Now that's what I call a positive gesture.

Check back to see Mr. Feiner's confirmation of this gift. After all if those who have the money don't give, you can't expect to raise money from those who don't.

Let us know Paul, which of the many groups you have listed, are the lucky beneficiaries.

I'm not expecting you to use your personal funds although that would be helpful...just dip into your various war chests whose unused balances continue to grow and grow and grow.

Because if you can't see your way to acting on your own post, then why should anyone less fortunate than you make the effort.

$25,000, Paul. Do something that will make a difference.

Shoveling someone's driveway in Edgemont (more than five days after it snowed) does not justify the town's using town tax dollars to subsidize meals on wheels in Eastchester and Mount Pleasant. Nor does it justify the town's using town tax dollars to allow TDYCC kids whose parents can afford it to go to camp for free. Nor does it justify the town's giving away $100,000 in town revenues as a gift to the Fairview Fire District. Nor does it justify a whole host of subsidies and freebies for one part of town at the expense of another in a time of financial emergency.

Anonymous said...

And lest I forget, the Feiner team probably wants to contribute $25,000 also.

Sheehan, Juettner, Brown and Morgan are delighted to donate $5000 each from their $28,300 part-time salaries (plus perks) while Town Clerk Beville ($73,600 salary plus perks) is equally delighted to donate $5000 of her $5500 stipend for supervising local elections (much less of a job since the County became custodian of the voting machines).

Friends of Feiner $25,000 plus the $25,000 from the fawns of Feiner equals $50,000. That would make a difference. How about it guys?

Sorry Hal, looks like you're a day late and (ugh!) a dollar short. Feiner announced yesterday that he leaving today for vacation and won't be back until January 3, when no one will care. In the meantime, perhaps Sheehan, who's acting town supervisor for the rest of December will pony up his own and Feiner's big bucks and then, for the first three days in January, it will be up to Sonya Brown. But don't hold your breath for either of them Hal. They, like Feiner, are only good at giving away other people's money - not their own.

Anonymous said...

Up the ante department.

An unsolicited, anonymous benefactor is making this offer:
If Feiner donates $25,000 of his excess campaign funds, this person will donate $1000 of personal funds.

The Supervisor, even when out of town, reads his blog.

And the homeless and hungry will suffer from the same problems after the holidays.

How about it, Paul?

Anonymous said...

I leave it to Hal to vouch for my bona fides. I am the person who offered the $1,000 match. To be completely fair I want to make it clear that there is a condition attached to my pledge - but only one - the funds must go to an IRS-recognized charity with a 501(c)3 designation.
