Revenue Improvement:

How about constructing a Multistory building at Veterans Park (hotel style) and renting it out to residents and non residents for weddings/birthday parties/graduation parties, conferences etc. which can bring in some income to the town.

Anonymous said...

Who will pay for the construction?

Rethink your concept - Town's exist solely to provide necessary services, with the emphasis on necessary. We appear to be cutting necessary services - now is not a good time to be expanding frill offerings. Besides, a catering hall is a business - governments should be business-like in operation, but should not be operating businesses. When governments operate businesses, we call it socialism - and it doesn't work very well.

stop sending out all of these silly mailings, like surveys, color brosures etc.

The library will be great for a catering hall .

samis krauss bernstein - all good choices for 2009.

without fail, juettner and sheehan have to given their walking papers.

Anyone Pat Weems is for should also be opposed.

Anonymous said...

ny state and ct should merge - that way we can get rid of county government.

what makes states sacrosanct?

Anonymous said...

weems is for juettner. juettner is a disaster.

weems, as usual, is wrong.

juettner must be ousted - the sooner the better.

When is opening day for the Library? How many days will it be closed? How many people will it need to maintain it? What was the final cost, including all the 2008 operational costs that was put into it? Are parking meters going to be installed? Can anybody out there answer any of these questions? Paul? Al? Director? Hal? Anybody?

from current issue of business week:

New York
New Rochelle

Nearest city: New York City
Population: 95,209
Median household income: $49,850

Ten-square-mile New Rochelle, the suburban home of Rob and Laura Petrie in “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” is still a relatively affordable place in ritzy Westchester County. New Rochelle is an ethnically diverse place with a bustling downtown and a mix of single-family homes and apartments.

There are leaves in the street everywhere!!! I was on Birchwood Lane and Cross Hill Road today and there are piles of leaves everywhere!! It is very dangerous when driving a car around a bend and have to drive on the left side of the road because of these piles...What is the point of having laws and fines if we do not enforce them?

Mr. Feiner...could you please answer?

Anonymous said...

Sorry -- left the leaves post on the wrong blog -- moved it to miscellanous.

To 11/11 6:03 AM;

The "final" costs won't be "known" for many, many months to come. Some things can be stated with fact: the "amended" budget of $20.3 million has been exceeded. How? Look at the Library's transfer of $98,000 from operating budget to capital to cover costs of items that were or should have been included in the original budget. How much higher? Only Klondike bar may know and even Klondike bar is in the dark on this one at this time.

klondike bar knows one thing for sure - diana juettner should resign immediately as she has shown complete incompetence as the town board liaison to the greenburgh public library (gpl). why this village resident is even in this position is unbelievable - juettner doesnt pay one dime of taxes for the gpl. juettner is and remains a disaster.

Gov. David A. Paterson dropped the budget hammer on Wednesday, proposing $5.2 billion worth of cuts over the next 16½ months, with Medicaid and education, the two largest pieces of the budget, bearing the brunt of the pain.

The governor said he would not seek layoffs, but state workers are being asked to forgo a previously negotiated 3 percent pay raise for next year, a move that would require the labor unions to reopen their contracts. Labor leaders have already expressed reluctance to make such a move. The governor is also proposing to make state workers pay for a greater part of the bill for their health care benefits.

The governor said during a press conference on Wednesday morning that Wall Street had “bailed us out” for years, but “now the well has run dry” amid Wall Street’s turmoil and the state must halt its free-spending habits.

“We’re not going to get out of this quagmire we’ve built until we reduce our spending,” he said.

WHITEHEAD CONSIDERED FOR TDY C/C DEPUTY?!?!?!?

Say it isn't so! Somebody pinch me!! The same Whitehead who is under police investigation, for hiring 5 people including her felon nephew to work no show jobs? These five people claimed to work 50 hours a week as part timers when the building was closed for evening programs. Huh? The same Whitehead who cried like a baby to the TDY Advisory Board? The same Whitehead who fired the Pool Director? The same Whitehead who never finished college? The same Whitehead who never supervised ANY f/t staff before being given a DOUBLE SALARY raise when appointed Interim Commissioner? The same Whitehead who gave away a $10,000 free day to Playland for the TDY Summer Camp, yep you read it right, that one day trip cost taxpayers $10,000. The same Whitehead who failed to inform the public about the Exposure Program? The same Whitehead whom staff protested her appointment in the Journal News? The same Whitehead who didn't start ONE new program since her appointment? The same Whitehead who has bought staff morale to its lowest levels? The same Whitehead who hasn't brought in one extra dime in grants? The same Whitehead who got the job without anyone else being considered? The same Whitehead who needs Councilwoman Brown to hold her hand to do her job? The same Whitehead who disappeared for 5 days when the Greenburgh Police entered the building?

Nooooo it can't be! I want to wake up from this bad dream!
Now before any of the folks she has taken care of respond, tell me one item here that isn't true. JUST ONE! This will be a long wait.

Greenburgh ranked number one for the poorest promotion standards in the USA!!!

Will someone please contact the Westchester County DA?

Paul as a veteran I am totally disappointed that this town did not observe November 11. Veterans Day. Having garbage pick up is business as usual. Well I hate to differ. Young men and women have fought hard for this country. There effort should be remembered. God bless Amercia

us out of iraq and afghanistan now!

Why can't the board tell us what is going on with Whitehead?
I head a rumor that Patricia Roper was fired because she has the goods on Whitehead.

Why isn't the public told of what is happening so that speculation can end?
What is being hidden?

Anonymous said...

And its a great way to intimiate other employees from coming forward. Good work board in protecting no-show jobs, no-bid contracts and free use of the pool at TDYCC.

This board thinks they are helping TDYCC. They arent. Unless TDYCC is cleaned up, taxpayers will demand it be sold.

Why are you blaming Whitehead for all the things that she is accused of.

Sonya and Feiner Knew of everything that was going on.
They should take the blame and be investigated by whomever is conducting the investigation.

The fault not only is Whitehead but those that oversee how our money is spent.
We all know how Sonya pushes for all grants that we inturn have to pay our share, for the center.

Are they not getting enough of our money from the taxpayers.
Yes there are taxpayers in Fairview but it is their children and families that receive the services for free.
Paul and Sonya know this but they keep their mouth shut.

This high tax rate that we have already received has enlightened all of us as to how crooked this town government is including some of the department heads.

The lawyer Lewis is also a gentleman to be investigated because he allows a lot to take place and plays dumb.

If he ever resigns I don't know who will give him a job.
A lawyer he is not.
How can any officer of the law allow false statements to be made to the public.
Lewis you are a smuck you could be throwing away your license to uphold the law if you continue to play stupid to the goings on in this town.

Maybe a hotel in Anthony Veteran Park is too ambitious. However in Eisenhower Park, in the Town of Hempstead, there is a lovely building surrounded by a beautifully manicured lawn which is rented out by the town for weddings etc.

It would be worthwhile to look into the costs involved; the potential for business; the competition and any and all variables in order to make an intelligent decision.

Needless to say, this should not be a "usual," once over lightly, Greenburgh "shoot from the hip" decision.

Thank you 11/9, 9:35PM for triggering the idea.
