CSEA CONTRACT APPROVED

The Greenburgh Town Board ratified a contract with the CSEA at tonights Town Board meeting. Members of the CSEA approved the agreement last week. The CSEA members will receive a zero percent salary increase in 2009. The employees had been working without a contract since January 1, 2008.
The contract contains a 3% retroactive salary hike to 2008 (the CSEA workers had been working without a contract since January 1, 2008). Management had received a salary hike in 2008. It would have been unfair to grant management a 3% hike in 2008 and to deny CSEA employees the same benefit. Elected officials have not received any salary hike in 2008 and in 2009. Management received no salary increase in 2009.
TOWN HALL OPEN ONE ADDITIONAL DAY...In the past town employees had a vacation day on Lincoln's Birthday. Many residents were inconvenienced by that holiday and were surprised when Town Hall was closed. Effective January 1, 2010 Lincoln's Birthday will not be celebrated --government offices will be open. However, employees will receive one additional personal day which must be used within the same calendar year.

Note the future condtional tense.
What happened in 2008 was unfair.
The CSEA 3% raise was included in that year's budget; the taxes paid by residents that year included the raise as indicated in the Budget but the Town pocketed it until now.

Every story has two sides.

Paul, we tried to tell you about this unfairness for over a year and a half. But now you only listened when we agreed to take a zero for 2009. Some boss you are!! You would never be able to get away with in your precious police department. It's too bad that the CSEA isn't strong enough to combat your crap.

Police and CSEA employees are two different animals, you can not compare the two.

Paul what happened to the tax dollars that were collected in the 2008 budget for the union workers????

Did this money go in someones pocket pretending that it was needed to do some repairs ????

God forbid the police union is denied a raise for their men.
Tell me what would they do.
They do nothing now so what kind of a slow down can they partake in.
Nothing can be worse than the services we all receive now.

The Police some things, lik, they are counselars for day camp, direct traffic for construction company's on overtime, paid by the company, but pads their pensions.(they even have bosses doing these details at patrol officer salary) they spend lots of time at the hospital, they train to be firefighters and I almost forgot they talk on their cell phones driving around town.

To 10:45...
Jealous??
Maybe you should have taken the civil service test instead of sitting on your arse.

11:51 You're one of the police persons that fit into every one of the job description listed before my comment.
I took the test and passed with flying colors. I retired from the NYPD and was very proud to do my job .
If I had to work the way this police dept. does I would have taken on a real mans position with the fire or sanitation dept.
Sorry whimp. you're just a lazy cop that knows his job is secured and so is the lucrative pension that we the taxpayers shell out.

Paul how many votes do you expect from the CSEA members.
I think you had better think again.
Your raise was just a little too late .

Dear 2:20

Actually I am not a Police Officer. You just sounded like an idiot in your previous post.

Thank You for serving the City of NY.

Paul,
Are you proud that you settle with CSEA? They sacrificed so much and recieved so little. These are hard working people trying to make a living to put food on there table. This contract is a disgrace. Greenburgh workers are hurting finacially that they had no choice to vote yes for this contract just to get a few extra bucks. Those extra bucks are good enough to put gas in our cars so that we can get back and forth to work. We dont have a electric like you do paul to get around town and it payed by the tax payers of Greenburgh.

2:37 you're a wannabe.

You would never make it to a position where one has to take some sort of a test.

Yes I am proud of being a retired police person and by the way I did retire as a captain.

Can you top that.

Re the various "stipends" you are not even close. Here are some additional compensation that you missed:

Web Master (Joe Lucasey) $4,456
Data Processing in Assessor's Department (D. Pandya) $6,180

Asst Comptroller Personnel (P. Kirkland) $7,416

F Asst Comp Personnel $1,291

SS Asst Compt Personnel $ 464

Town Clerk - records Access Officer (J. Beville) $ 4,000

Town Clerk - Custodian of Elections
(J. Beville) $5,500

Town Clerk - Custodian of Elections (M. Bell) $3,500

Total of the above 2 = $9,000 budget line A.1450.100.1

First Deputy Town Attorney (D.Fried) $8,742 budget line A.1420.101.1

The Court Clerk's stipend is actually $8,488 not $8,000

In addition, Mr. Lucasey receives "subsidized" housing in the form of 50% of estimated FMV for performing certain caretaker tasks at Hartsbrook Park in the amount of approximately $11,000 annually.

What are the care takers tasks?

To "Captain Kangaroo"
or
"Captain" Crunch
Or whatever your name is....can twl your full of it, a cop (especially retired) would never talk about a fellow brother or sister from another dept like you have. If you were a cop- I can just see it: loner, no real friends, probably a rat fink! Get a life and put your efforts into doing good for the town and its employees. Csea, cops, firemen...we all work for the same town and take pride in what we do.
So, captain stubing or spok or who ever you are.....get a clue!

When my tax dollars are being squandered I can speak against any brother or sister.

Maybe you're one that does not pay the same tax as many of us do since you live in an apartment.

I too was a union member and I do feel for the CSEA they should have gotten their raises when it was put into the budget .They work real hard.

Sorry if I offended you but speaking the truth will not hurt anyone .

I agree with the Police Capt(retired), our police force could and should do more to help fight crime. Stop talking on there cell phones when driving around, would be a start. Also they know it's a waste of grant money to have the police camp. How many other PD's have a day camp.
how many officers are assigned to this camp on a daily basis? there are only like 18-20 campers and probaly 5-6 officers.

Since stipend pay is to be for work done after the regular work day, all these employees must be putting in very long hours. (HA HA HA HA)

Anonymous said...

HA HA HA

All the extra money stipends handed out are gived to staff who don't work ONE minute above their schedule. It begs the questions what the blank were they doing before the stipend ifts?

Anonymous said...

Can't believe the Town really needed to open Lincoln's Birthday and held out for it in negotiations. It would have been nice to have a four day weekend next year. I hope everybody takes the day as a personal day.

Anonymous said...

Why dont they negotiate to have 4 day workweeks like they did out in long island. Work 10 hours over 4 days and stay closed on fridays. It would save the town a lot of money in heating and electricity costs!

Anonymous said...

Paul will we be taxed again in the incoming budget for the CSEA raise.

We paid for it in one of the last budgets and they received nada.

Where is that money???
Kinda odd most of the money we pay in taxes has not been accounted for.
What is really going on with this town.
Do we need a federal investigation??

Anonymous said...

Still waiting for the answer as to where did the money go that was slated for the CSEA in the previous budget.

Anonymous said...

They told us during negotiations that had spent it on other items. We found out that was an outright lie. We now understand that they are saving it for the Bible Fortress lawsuit that they are going to lose.

Anonymous said...

If the CSEA wanted the truth, they could have contacted someone who knows. They didn't. Their loss.

Anonymous said...

We contacted someone who knows that works in the Comptroller's office. That's how we found out that they lied to us about not spending our money. Yes, it was our loss, but how do you deal with this maniac when he lies to everyone.

Anonymous said...

Take the maniac to court together with the comptroller.
The boss knows and the other covers up.
I would like to see if the comptroller were on the short end of the stick what would be his next step.

Let's see if the comptroller will be willing to go down with a sinking ship.

Hey csea folks,

the justice would be done to csea employees when Paul does not give raise to police department for one year!

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, that will never happen unless the binding arbitrator sides with the taxpayers of this Town.

Anonymous said...

Police and CSEA contaract are totally different for totally different jobs. Also CSEA does not pay into medical when the PBA does.

Anonymous said...

If my salary was over 100,000 I would not mind paying into my insurance either. The Police pay very little percentage into there insurance but they get the big raises.

Anonymous said...

4:25 -Yeah, they are totally different jobs. The CSEA employees work harder than the police ever do. And that 1% contribution must really kill them.

Anonymous said...

Once again two toataaly different jobs they can never be compared as to who works harder. In fact the CSEA has all different titles within their ranks, some may say labors are not paid fairly because they are getting paid the same as librians.
