TOWN TO ISSUE TICKETS TO THOSE PARKING IN DISABLED PARKING SPOTS AT TOWN HALL

The Greenburgh Town Board decided at our work session meeting today to increase the number of disabled parking spots at Town Hall (satellite library). We expect to adopt a local law in February authorizing the police to issue tickets to those who park at the spots without a valid disabled parking permit.
The Board also agreed to reserve short term parking (30 minutes or less) spots at the locations closest to Town Hall. This will encourage more people to visit the library - especially senior citizens who might be reluctant to walk from the back of the parking lot to the Town Hall.

The Greenburgh police don't issue tickets for illegal parking in handicapped spaces already?!

And why would some special town law need to be passed anyway? It's already a very specific statewide law/violation that covers all municipalities.

A police department doesn't need the permission from a municipality's government to enforce state law.

What's important is that the law is enforced. Non disabled people should not park at the town hall parking spots reserved for the disabled.

Does being obese constitute being disabled?

What's the opinion of town attorney office about this issue ?

Out of Topic: Do you think that reserving the FIVE parking spots for town clerk and council members is necessary ?
And should we also reserve the space for town supervisor Paul - even he does not ask for ?

Does being dishonest, disrespectful and threatening like Young Kaminer acting under the instructions of a Town Board member constitute being disabled?

Does giving confidential and knowingly inaccurate documents to the Journal News constitue being disabled?

Does being a disengenous NIMBY EDGENOT civic leader constitute being disabled?
