STOP LYING!
Town "Work Sessions" aren't available on cable like they used to be. Taking the Town Board meetings to local sites means no broadcast and no tapes and no record of the meeting to check with. You need a cable box and even then the audio mysteriously disappears when certain people speak. The video is very low quality - the resolution on most people's personal webcameras and cellphones is better. The Town spent thousands and thousands of dollars on equipment which, because of inadequate internal controls, is "missing". The franchisees (Cablevision and the much touted competitor Verizon) both say the Town is at fault for the poor quality and lack of availablility.
The heavily promoted "Dial-in Democracy" isn't available when the Town Board meets outside Town Hall, and even when they meet in Town Hall, it is very clear the Supervisor checks the Caller ID and simply doesn't answer some calls.
The Supervisor has time to run an employment website (formerly known as this blog), keep track of his whereabouts and feelings on Twitter and hold court on Facebook - but is too self-involved to notice that United Water failed to file a site plan for the Metz Reservoir. He also neglected to mention the Article 78 proceeding filed by the Troys over the Dromore Road dispute. He should have crowed about the Town's victory in that case - but if he did, he wouldn't be able hide behind the Court's decision when he eventually gives the Troys what they want via a Town Board action. The excuse that the Town would have lost in Court becomes totally lame when the Town has already won...
Feiner's Follies - not better ideas, merely Feiner ones.
Go ahead Paul, delete this comment - your blog is completely self-aggrandizing and self-serving. Eighteen years of your stewardship has cost you even the pretense of concern for the citizenry.

Dear Peter:
Town Board work sessions continue to be televised live. They are also streamed live on the internet. We also archive our town board work sessions. You can watch them on the internet (www.greenburghny.com). We continue to provide residents with the ability to call in during Town Board meetings. There is no caller id on the phone. Calls are not pre-screened. The Metz reservoir construction was a federal requirement. The work they did was done because the fed's felt it was necessary for health/environmental/safety reasons.

The fact that the Metz reservoir project was federally mandated did not require that the town waive site plan approval. Nor did it excuse the town's failure to hold a public hearing and grant a special permit -- which is not waivable -- and mandated by the Town's Zoning Code. Feiner's actions stripped the residents in that area of their rights under the town code to make sure their properties are not at risk -- and, having admitted publicly that the town made a mistake, Feiner's refusal now to rescind that site plan waiver is very very fishy.

Dear Mr. Feiner -
There is a very significant difference between turning on a webcam, pointing it at a target and letting whatever happens happen, and producing a usable webcast. Audio and video production values count. While you may not be concerned with those things (perhaps you believe that only spoiled, rich Edgemonters care) the image YOU have chosen to present to the greater public is far from what one might reasonably expect from the 80th best place to live. Fuzzy video and inaudible audio are amateurish at best - they are not endearing, downhome values, they are the trash produced by someone who doesn't care enough to require professional standards from his staff.
You have not addressed the cablebox issue - which was brought to your attention MONTHS ago. To refresh your understanding: No cable box rented from the cable provider, no Town channels. Simple enough for you to grasp?
The Town DOES NOT webcast or tape for later cable broadcast meetings which are not Town Hall. Period. As many, many Town Board meetings take place away from Town Hall during the ongoing political season, many of us have no way to know what has gone on.
The requirement that a member of the public must FOIL and pay for Town Board minutes is not "open government" it is foolishness.
Please go back to your roots and get these things right, or have 18 years in office corrupted you?

4:46, is your last paragraph rhetorical, or are you awaiting a response?

Cablevision and its predecessor have given the town hundreds of thousands of dollars. Enough to pay for a professional quality audio and video presentation, including multiple cameras and microphones.

Based on the product offered, it's more than reasonable to believe it wasn't spent on equipment.

If you want to be expsed to professional municipal cablecasts, visit White Plains and/or Mamaroneck/Larchmont. As irony would have it, the tech director for W.P. lives in Greenburgh.
