JOB OPPORTUNITIES-- AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Town of Greenburgh recently received a $167,550 grant from the Lanza Family Foundation to ENHANCE our after school program. We are contracting with the Xposure Foundation to provide one of the nations most innovative after school opportunities. This is experimental learning at the highest level. In finance, students not only learn fundamentals of banking and investing, they also open their own bank accounts, save weekly and invest in shares of public companies. In technology they review online lessons in electronics or the environment. They create and post video and radio programs about what they have learned. Please visit the xposure web site: www.XposureFoundationInc.org.

We are excited to announce the addition of the Xposure Foundation, Inc. After School program to the Theodore D. Young Community Center.

The Xposure Greenburgh After School Program will be holding interviews for the Theodore D. Young Community Center Staff, and anyone interested in working with the Xposure Greenburgh After School Program.

Send a copy of your current resume and a writing sample telling us about your interest, capacity and ability to be a part of this new program by email to Raymondlthomas@XposureFoundationInc. before the interview time.

Those of us who suffered through the sugar coated promotion for this be-all end-all may recall their skit on how six year olds should act when they are about to be interviewed for a job.

My assumption here being that those who conduct interviews in the business world have some definite job(s) to fill, perhaps even a position offering compensation.

Here we find an advertisement, forwarded courtesy of Supervisor Feiner, for "job opportunities" and no mention of what it is for, experienced required or not, or mention of compensation. Sounds to me like the kind of job opportunity that any six year old might be interested in.

Perhaps these not-for-profit tyros need to take someone else's not-for-profit program for learning how to hire serious job applicants and not waste everyone's time.

Running a help wanted notice to create a cattle call is indeed the type of strategy one would use in a depressed area: someplace like Detroit.

Greenburgh depressed------

Paul who are you trying to kid.
There are no depressed areas here in Greenburgh,
The Fairview area is richer than any other part of town.
Stop the bs
You do make sure that all the monies and programs are directed in that direction.

LMAO! Yes, Hal. My thoughts exactly! Not only does this "cattle call" not mention qualifications, job description or salary, it does not say if it is a temp, permanent, or part-time job!

I suppose we all should read between the lines here and assume that this job, whatever it is, will be filled by another friend of the friends of the TDYCC.

What a joke!

Our children will benefit with this program.

I was at the meeting last night, and I was outraged. Number one: this program will fail! The Center is not even in favor of it, who will pay for it next year?

Will the "new" commissioner of the CC be in charge of the program??
This program is a joke...the "founder" should sell used cars.. maybe the Town Board could buy a new fleet.

Second: Mr. Feiner, think before you speak! Your comment after the 40 minute Xposure demonstration (by the way, this learning tool had numerous misspelled words...what a joke)getting back to your comment: " maybe a kid from greenburgh can be an obama ?? what did you mean by that? If you were pitching this in edgemont or your neck of the woods, would you have used a different person. You are an idiot.

My 14 year old child could make that program we sat thru last night on his computer. Why does this BS program cost so much...I wonder what the "CEO" drives !!!! I saw him pull out of the lot !!! Not for profit my rear end.

And my last point, on this divided Town. Woodlands HS sings the "black" national anthem before basketball games. Last night you made your residents sit trough a video (produced very well) but did any of you idiots listen to the words in that song? Watch it on the internet and listen to the words. I dont live in fairview. Nor should I be subjected to a video at a town board meeting that says that the Town is a ghetto, or a video that says girls dont have to be "Hoes".

By any chance did you see the majority of the rear of the room exit. It was sickening!!!

This Town is a joke, we are a laughing stock in the County and the State.

P.S. Judy, we are tired of you thanking everyone, you are the Town Clerk....just do your job!!

For an educational tool, shouldnt they at least spell Exposure with an "E"!

Or is that ebonics?

Anonymous said...

Well, here you have it folks! The entire board, including the supervisor, should be run out of this town. It's pretty clear that they all believe as elected officials, they can do whatever fancies them and to hell with the rest of us.

What nerve these people have! Disgraceful!

Woodlands HS sings the "black" national anthem before basketball games.

Is this true?

The "job" oppotunities are little more than political patronage being dispensed by the Supervisor. The Lanza Foundation is being misused - it is fronting for Feiner's Supervisor for Life campaign. Too bad Greenburgh is actually so small and insignificant that responsible public officials dismiss it rather than investigate.

Dear 7:59 am:

Yes it is true and it was a disgrace. I was also at the basketball game, I was outraged. This is why my children will not goto any GC7 school.

There were three or four police officers at the game and I asked one of them if this isthe norm at the schools games. He said yes! I could tell it bothered him too.

This Town is a disgrace.

Feiner stop catering to the blacks.
It's a disgrace that the school permits the black athem to be sung .
Have you forgotten that this is America?
You have the nerve to give these people all our hard earned money to stab this country in the back.
Yes they do get plenty of grants this should be stopped.
Stop giving these people more and more freebees.
Not only do they receive welfare, have a roof over their heads for free, have free child care, have free lunches at the center, and above all have free police protection .
Paul many people did leave the meeting because they finally realized this town is only one sided and see one color and that is black.
Sorry that I voted for you the last time arround but believe me I won't make the same mistake again.
The next time I see you make sure that you raise your arm and give me a closed fist sign.
You have lost the respect of a lot of residents and above all their votes.

Why should the school have four to five police officers at any game ?
What are they afraid of?
Who pays for these police officers to be present at the school.
If the money comes out of the taxes that we AMERICANS are paying then we should stop .
Paul this is America and you as a supervisor should be on top of this.
They are a disgrace and so are you to have them sing this garbage instead of Our National Anthem.
Why do you get up to salute the flag before every meeting if you allow this to go on at central seven school.
You are not an american so please do not salute the flag that many men and women died for so we could be free.

The school district is a disgrace. Roughly 1300 attend GC while 1800 attend private schools.

The people of Greenbugh sit by silently while outrageous amounts of school and town tax money is funneled into supporting these 1300, many who don't even live in the school district! No one will speak up! Everyone is afraid.

This "amazing" after school program is just one of many discriminating programs available. Those who say "they are open to everyone" use this as an excuse. If, in fact, all were welcome, why aren't the schools that educate the other 1800 kids (located in TOS Greenburgh!)made aware of this or any program that the town provides to students? No flyer's coming home form school with these kiddies! Hellz no!

$25k per student spent each year @ GC. Millions & millions in town taxes and grant money for the same 1300, less than half of the GC student population.

ROBBERY!

Paul contributes to this, by not charging the villages for TDYCC. So they dont care.

Dear 7:43

1. You and your neighbors and your friends MUST register as democrats. That is the only way to effectuate change in Greenburgh. You have until the general election in Nov to register as a democrat and be able to vote in 2008 democratic primaries. There is only one party in Greenburgh. Like Communists. So if you have to, hold your nose, but change your regisration. Look what is going on in White Plains, massive changes in registrations -- it is the only way for change at the Town of Greenburgh.

2. Run your own candidates for school board. You dont have to have children in the school. Do it soon. Any btw, have you heard that someone was addressed with drugs in Sonya Browns car?

Anonymous said...

Oops, I meant register as a democratic before the Nov election and you can vote in 2009 primary. countact the westchester board of elections now.

see here

How sure are you that there will be a democratic primary??
Is there someone in another party that could fill the seat of the current supervisor,if so I think he or she should start making a move right away.
We need a new party in office .The democrates have been in office too long and they seem to believe that they own the county and the town.
Check the scandal concerning Spano spending $300,000.00 on security.
What about Ryan?
When you're arroung too long you think that the tax payers have to pay for all your whims.

Dear 9/05 at 9:43 -
Actually its Feiner's attempt to heap scorn on all words beginning with the letter E - like Edgemont and ETHICS - Feiner feels the Town needs neither to prosper.
For a more complete discussion of the dropping of a single letter from the local alphabet see "The Wonderful O" by James Thurber. Normally it would be available at the Greenburgh Public Library but owing to excessive expenditures its been excised...

Paul

Doesn't it make sense that a program like this be used in the schools not the TDYCC. This program should be handed over to the GC7 school district and let them run it as an after school program.

I hope this blog about the anthem at games is just a rumor because if this is true it is a disgrace to our community and it is not what we should be teaching our children.

How long before the town realizes that Sonya Brown is one big joke, she will make a mockery of the already embarrasing town board. She is the last person who should have any involvement in the community center. Did you know she employed her brother Goerge Brown in the community center, he is a convicted felon with serious anger managenet issues, perfect lets give him a job with our children, several other of her family members have been given positions in the community center as commitee members, Ricardo Laing another felon, who has seen the inside of a cell more than the janitors that clean it. Ask her about Alex Washington, I believe the police dragged him out of his house a week ago after he sent his pit bulls on them. I can go on and on but I think you get the picture. Sonya Brown is not much different than the criminals in her family, but yet we managed to get her elected into the town board, tells me alot about the voters in Greenburgh. Will the chief of police do her a favor when (not if) another one of her family members gets locked up by police dept. in her community.
