The candidate will provide strategic leadership for the colleges internal and external communication functions including marketing and promotion, media, public and community relations. He/she is responsible for planning and implementing creative strategies to promote the colleges distinctive pedagogy, enhance the colleges positioning and branding, convey accomplishments and initiatives and assure a positive image through an aggressive marketing, publications and media relations effort.

The incumbent will be a member of the colleges senior staff, will act as the primary spokesperson for the college and will advise and assist the president in developing strategies to evaluate and strengthen the colleges position and national reputation. .

Title (Director or VP) dependent on qualifications and experience

Principal duties and responsibilities include:
Develop and oversee the colleges communication and media plan and strategy

Oversee publication, design, editing, and production of all internal and external communications.

Lead the development of sustained visibility initiatives that raise awareness of the Colleges distinction, including faculty and student scholarly achievements. Carefully manage the Colleges profile as reported in the popular media and in major college guides.

Identify, develop, and implement branding strategies to further name recognition of the college in local, regional and national community.

Counsel Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, and Advancement with the design and implementation of comprehensive marketing and communications campaigns to increase inquiries and applications, alumnae/i engagement and donor participation.

Responsibility for the Colleges interactive media operations (Web, blast-email.)

Drive the strategic use of social media networks such as Facebook, YouTube, etc., to increase visibility.

Establish and maintain metrics for marketing/branding efforts; measure outcomes; adjust marketing/branding efforts as needed based on data collected.

Review and monitor use of the colleges name, service marks and other symbols

Support and coordinate communications activities among key constituents, such as Advancement and Admissions



Requirements:

Five to seven years of progressive responsibility in marketing and communications, preferably in higher education, or with a substantial portfolio of work with higher education clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation and understanding of the value of a liberal arts education.

Expertise in marketing, media relations, including branding, image content and integrated web site development.
